I'm still an XPer. I know how to navigate Vista because of my sister's laptop, but I like XP because it's easier to deal with. smile

(My screen is 1280x1024, but i resized the picture to 1024x768)

Here it is (drumroll)... The Most Boring Desktop on MU!!

Just built myself a new custom environment (Linux) for my Netbook a few days ago.

It may look boring, but it boots in 10 seconds and runs everything as fast as hell. Bet you Windows noobs can't achieve this on a quadcore system, let alone a Intel Atom based eeePC.

Okay, I shall stop with the geek-talk now.

Indeed, I did not understand a word.
It looks very cool though. sad It's so simple, yet... powerful!

And I like the color black too...

>>CHECK OUT MY DESKTOP!!<<

A friend from the other forum used a scene from Bride of the Water God and editted in some parts of her Kaname+Yuuki fanart. It's inspired by the whole "Ancestor..reincarnated Wife theory" in the Vk forum..

Isn't this just EPIC?!!?!? User Posted Image

They call them NetBooks now? the eeepcs?
And surely having a desktop background doesn't make that much of a performance difference? bigrazz And your hdd space is over 70gb I didn't know they made it with that big of a solid state drive... unless you went for an ordinary disc hard drive, in which case I wonder why on earth you would do that? it's one of the cool things about them, the solid state drive! especially if you're concerned with speed!

but uh... otherwise, how's it handling?
I can't afford myself one... yet.

But here's my desktop:

...heap of crap ibook with the ppc processor... *grumble* it's like the Panther - Tiger app compatibility issue all over again but worse! augh!

@havoccc
Err... No... It's the SSD... the beauty is it's configured to show total space available when a USB harddrive is mounted as well.... pull out the USB drive and it shows just remaining SSD space.... cool eh?!.... I wouldn't have gotten it to boot in 10sec if not for the SSD, anyway.

Regarding the background... I just like minimalism... I left it blank to emphazise the desktop environment's (Openbox) lack of docking and taskbars (right-click opens menu to everything)..... although I blanked out my IP and hostname for security reasons.

Hope this clarifies it for you.... handles great, btw... I got it mainly as a second computer..... battery life is unreal.

And you might wanna try Yellow Dog Linux for your PPC iBook..... it's one of the few distros optimized for PPC processors and architecture and it's pretty stable, I've been told.

Cheers.

It looks very cool! It encouraged me to get rid of my icons too (except for one) and I really like it way better now eyes

Improved version of my Windows desktop

So here's my new desktop. Apart from the new VS and CAD skin, there isn't really much of a difference from my previous one. Oh yeah, and I took out the Ayuka app too.

I love my desktop!

It's Pocco by Yamashita Shunya. It's my favorite toy.
And no icons are visible in my desktop since I don't like them. I just keep them hidden
