Especially on WIki there's a ton mislabed. Its says the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is Seinen, which it definitely isn't.
I think alot of them are Shoujo or Shounen but with mature pieces which is why they're consequently mislabeled as Seinen or Josei.
Not every author thinks: "Now I'll make a shonen manga!"
It could just be: "I'll make a manga out of this subject."
It might be hard to label manga if there is no significant difference between the manga and shonen/seinen.

I don't think its so much Shounen/Seinen but Seinen vs Shounen with Mature.

There are a lot of mistakes on Wikipedia, but this is not one of them. The Suzumiya Haruhi series is definitively seinen since the original novels are published on "The Sneaker", a seinen light novel magazine. That the manga adaptation happens to be serialized in Shonen Ace doesn't change the fact that the original story is aimed at an older male audience.

Is the anime based closely on it? Because I've seen the anime, and I can't think of any older guys who would go for that.

The anime is based closely to the chapters it animates. I don't know what the hell you're smoking when you say you don't think older guys would go for it...

Seriously, it's a teen thing. They'll go for the perverted bits yeah, I'll agree on that but the rest of it is a teen thing.

I wouldn't also think of any older guys going for mangas about how 5-year old children learn how to use a bicycle or about magical little girls but that's how things are. (Those genres are awfully popular within the Japanese.)

You're way not serious.

I think that you seriously need to read more seinen manga. A good example of what I was talking before is Yotsuba To! (Believe it or not it is serialized in the same magazine that published Boogiepop.)

I love Yotsubato, it's one of my favorite mangas. I just do not get how that or Haruhi will appeal to middle aged guys. 😕

If you know that, why do you find odd that Haruhi, a semi-harem school-life franchise is also aimed at them? (I don't understand you.) Just tell me: what part of Haruhi do you think that it could be "unattractive" to the seinen readers?

Kodomo no Jikan appeals to middle-aged guys! Get with the program, buddy 😢
When you said older guys, I thought you were speaking to the 18 to 20-something anime fan. If you're talking about actual middle-aged men, anime is not for them. Maybe one or two series every season...

Thanks, but I'm not an idiot, I actually do know what I'm talking about.
NeoFireHawk: How is a psycho five year old who think air conditioners are creepy supposed to be entertaining to the Seinen group? Haruhi, I'll give you, Mikuru and the perverted parts yes are aimed at them, I see that and the main character that you follow is a guy, but other than that it's all aliens, time travelers and vespers and messing with the laws of the universe in high school. I do not see how that applies to Seinen at all.
