I really, really like Shizuku from Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun. She's like a breath of fresh air ! She's pretty stoic about things but she stays true to her character and doesn't fall apart and collapse when she realizes she's in love. And I have to point out that she hasn't cried ONCE in the 9 chapters that I've read even though there's already been a lot of development. 😃

And this is irrelevant, but I really like the male lead too 😛

Has Shirayuki from Akagami no Shirayukihime been mentioned?

Kanade from Mekakushi no Kuni is realistic.... and I don't know why I like her so much. She's just different for some reason xD.

Also, Mafuyu from Oresama Teacher and Shirotae from Hakuou no Sono are pretty awesome leads.

Of course, any poppular, aggressive, sort-or-tsundere type, and especially STRONG female leads is always the best shoujo heroines, that's why a lot of shoujo mangakas these days are basing most of their works in strong female leads. I mean, the only shoujo heroine I could think of now that's still likable without being that typically, strong character type is Tohru Honda from Fruits Basket. But, out of curiosity, are there any other weak heroines out there left that are still pretty interesting despite their low-class roles?

My favourite heroine is Saya, from Blood+ (I mean the Anime, not the manga that was written afterwards).
Yes, yes, I consider it a shoujo, there is such good romance in it... 🤨
Sure, there are a few monsters as well, but I stand my ground, so many scenes made me go " Aaawwww...<3 ", and that's what shoujo is about !

About weak (physically), but nonetheless charismatic female leads, I think some yuki kaori's heroines match that description : Sara in Angel Sanctuary,

Claribel in Camelot Garden, Eles in Orchestre royal de guignols, Maryweather in God Child or the heroine (don't remember the name) in Cruel Fairytales.
They tend to have outstanding personalities, or strong wills, which make them charismatic characters.

Haha, I love the heroine in Hiyokoi. She's definitely weak, but it's not Mary-Sue-ish at all. It's more of her flaw that she has to overcome throughout the story. She's SO adorable, though. <3
