Actually, shota (really shounen) loosely means boy, so shotacon is boy/boy or boy/man - wtvr.

Girls would be lolicon (as in lolita). loli/shota would be young girl/boy. yaoi shota = boy/boy, straight shota = boy/older woman, then you could have yuri/loli - girl/girl and so forth.

And if you've ever seen doujins of CCS with Tomoyo/Sakura, that would be yuri loli. So yeah, there's lots.

Hmmm, I'm just throwing in my 2 cents ... nothing spectacular ...

I guess I'm conservative on some topics.

I do believe in freedom of media and such, so why people choose to view or create some things is beyond me (but then maybe I am too narrow-minded if I can't fathom it)
My view is that children should not be viewed of as sexual objects, even if its fantasy. But then I don't really care for porn, hentai, ecchi, or even excessive fanservice-y stuff either. Heck, even Full Moon wo Sagashite made me a little uncomfortable, because by 8 years (or some single digit age) the heroine was having serious relationship thoughts. I just remember at that age, even into the teens myself and those around me were in no way mature enough to handle a relationship, or what it entailed, let alone fully comprehend about sex and its repurcussions.
But anyways, my answer is I don't like either.
And I will be 29 this year and I don't think I've cultivated a taste for shotacon. But I am also unattached ... not married like some of you ladies I wonder if that would change my opinions?
And just to say, its just my opinion, I'm not judging anybody because of theirs.

In case I didn't say it before, I don't like either...with the possible exception of a couple of non-explicit stories I've read that feature an 11-12 year old boy who's chasing (and, uh...sometimes catching >_>) a girl who's more like 15-16. Don't know if that really counts as "shotacon" though.

Children in sexual situations pretty much give me the creeps.

In a way, I do agree with you. As far as I remember, I didn't even think of relationships before 15 or 16, and sex was reproduction. It's just that there's no connection in my mind between manga characters and real people, so the "forbidden" aspect of shota makes it fun.
Does being married change my opinion? Maybe. It confirms that I'm still interested in adults only and shota is just a little perverted hobby of mine!
