So the question is when do you pass the line between avid fan and otaku? i Love manga and anime and i recently decided to buy manga's instead of reading online and i have already bought close to 60 vols in 2 weeks. Is that a bit obsessive and am i on the path to becoming an otaku?

Are you an otaku? probably, but that's not a bad thing, just don't start trying to make love to a figurine or run around with a highschooler's panties on your head, playing "Super-Pantu"

Are you "continually preoccupied" with manga and anime? (That's the dictionary definition for obsessive.) I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts interfering with other aspects of your life.
Also, 60 volumes isn't that many. Maybe for two weeks it is, but since you just started collecting it's understandable.
