im feeling sad now. i used to adore panic at the disco(i actually legitimately liked all their other songs) and then i noticed that their music is getting worse. if you listen to their new song 'new perspective' , its all fake sounding , twangy, and autotune, even though his voice is amazing. 'it just sucks.

also anne rice. i dont know what happened. her vampire series was awesome, and now i really hate her writing. sad

so as not to limit it to panic at the disco(i think a lot of people dont like them here) i just want to know bands/writers/artists that get progressively worse, and maybe why you think they do. and maybe we can comfort each other in our misery sad .

edit: crap, posted in wrong section. sorry!

I liked No Doubt's first three albums, then it all went downhill (especially Gwen Stefani: lame songs, uninspired fashion, etc)

About Panic!, I agree with you, in parts. Panic! is one of my favorites bands, but I started liking because of A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, and then the punch in the face that was Pretty Odd. No, I don't think it's bad, it was a great album, but that was not Panic! (cliche phrase, ok). Now, I do think New Perspective is bringing back the feeling of the first album, but without the inspiration of Ryan Ross, who wrote the entire A Fever. Let's see how the new album gonna work.

Topic: I simply can't listen to the new Green Day. Don't know why...

My biggest disappointment is Radiohead. I didn't like the new electronic sound they took even if it brought them critical acclaim and rise to the fame. What happened to the angsty, old Creep?
Also I've been listening to Placebo for a long time but no matter how many times I listen to their newer albums it just seems to me that 90s were their gold age. Bruise pristine, Every You Every Me, Nancy Boy, Pure Morning all had some unique, raw feeling... and now I think they lost a lot of their originality along with their angst and youth.
I think that a lot of artist start off very young and as they grow older they mature and lose their vividness or simply realise that they don't like the music they've been creating before and decide to take a new path. To me it's a disappointment because I dislike that kind of change, and I think that they left and betrayed their old selves along with their old fans. Maybe it's my motto in life - Be who you are until the end.

I've only read the first three books In The Vampire Chronicles because the rest aren't translated to my language and I haven't read any of her works besides those. Are you saying that the quality dropped in the latest books of The Vampire Chronicles or are you reffering to her other books?

Anne Rice returned to catholic church now and became very religious, she even wrote books about the life of Jesus... To be honest, I've read most of her books but the only one I really liked was 'The Vampire Lestat', others are bad... And the newest ones are even worse, indeed.

I think that Stephen King's latest books are not good, especially compared to his previous works ('The Shining', for example). Some of them are simply boring, while others are almost self-plagiarism (I think that 'Cell' is too much like 'The Stand').

Thank God. I really liked the vampire series and since nowadays every fiction made about vampires is mostly trash (Twilight anyone?) I can still enjoy reading the rest of the books. If they are ever translated of course.

The Strokes and Muse are good examples, I think.
Yes, Placebo, I agree with that.
And most bands that were from the '60s/'70s and are still releasing albums today. embarrassed

I regretted buying the 'Cell'. One of his worst.
Also I'll use this chance to thank you for recommending 'The Secret History' in topic Incest in novels. The book simply blew me away. eyes

In my opinion The Strokes didn't release anything good since their debut album. And I'm starting to like Muse less and less since the Twilight fans started jumping over them. And they were so good too... no

I didn't know that Muse has anything to do with Twilight. none But I don't care. I haven't cared about them for a long time.

I should add Funeral for A Friend too. Yes, I did think their first two albums were quite listenable compared with a lot from their generation/peers. They are typical example of two-album band.

I have trouble of thinking of anyone who doesn't get worse.
Success ruins most artists I think.

That's actually a song in the movie OST, right? Pretty boring video.
However, I don't think appearing in any movie soundtrack should be the reason that they got worse. I personally think they had their first 3 good albums and that's it.

A bit off topic but remember a the Killers' video inspired by Moulin Rouge? That one was pretty well-done.

I'm not saying that they got worse because their music appeared in that film.
I'm just expressing my dismay over the increase of fans that started listening to Muse just because of that film.

To stay on topic I liked Rammstein much more before.
