Oh hellsing, that one totally skipped my mind. He'd love that one.
He saw me watching Gintama before. He couldnt get into it. He said "Nothing really happens". Which well....is true. Gintama is more slapstick comedy.
To Aru Majutsu no Index, that should be along the same level as Shauna. It'll make him a woman. Basically, my dad is looking for something thats either GARRRRRR or at least closer to shounen that doesnt skim the side of romance. He watched half of tengen toppa gurren lagann before he got bored of the "Robots". In my case, i freaking grew another pair of balls watching that show. On the off hand, he liked Shaman King even if the ending was "What the hell...."
I'll totally get to Gunslinger girl though haha. I put it off too long.

hell, if he wants GAR he should consider mecha. How can a person refuse to watch Code Geass?

Oh! Speaking of Hellsing, what about "Trigun"? Complete, lots of action, not much romance, no robots.
(I don't know why Hellsing sparked Trigun, maybe the coats)

lol i have the perfect anime for your dad if you don't mind it being kinda old and all, "Flame of Recca" would be the perfect one with tons of action. i am surprised no one recommended that one but i guess it is old and that's why not a lot of people know about it?
As for you, you are into slice of life right? if you don't mind some intense romance "Good Ending" will be perfect for you.
another slice of life manga is "Family Compo", "Honeymoon salad"(with some sex beware!),
or if you into comedy school life ecchi "Pretty face" is a good one, sure its the typical school life and all EXCEPT The protagonist, a guy will have to go in as a "girl" ^^.
Or school with magic theme "Mx0" however the ending got rushed due to being "cut" so yea..
but since you said any is fine, i would recommend some of my manga as well
