In my high school, 80+ is an A. And, if I get 45%, they'll round it up to a 50%, which is a pass. You can hardly fail at my high school.

In another high school, somebody got a 30%, but the principle didn't want any failures so she gave him a 50%.

Xeronia less than 60% is an F?? And between 60% and 65% is F+, they're very ugly marks. (I mean, if my report card came from your school, I'd have a few F's...) F usually means fail in my school.

Yeah, that's the general system in this area. But the grades aren't inflated. For us, seeing that 80+ as an A, that's inflated. (Except in AP US History, because almost nobody can score that high - there's just way too much stuff...).

Here, you fail, you get held back. The administration almost has too much integrity.

Lol im taking AP Us history now and my grading system is like xerona's.
Below 60% F
60-65 F+
66-69 D
70-73 C-
74-76 C
77-79 C+
80-83 B-
84-86 B
87-89 B+
90-93 A-
94-97 A
98-100 A+

And im one of those ppl that ppl hate since i get my A's without studying lol

jezz 85-100 is your top ranking that is easy. never had a class that was over 10 each scale always 7% or 10%, and in my uni if your taking the class for your major you pretty much have to get a 70% or above to not have to retake it, but a above 80% avg is really what you need to do anything.

the % might seem easier... however actually obtaining that % is harder in australia.

for example something ranked as a 95 in one country might well eb ranked as a 60 in another country *shrugs* aussie standards are pretty high

- - - - -
for the record having a gpa over 5.0 is considered high (credit average across all subjects)... that is because the majority of uni students are unable to do so. however in my opinion unless you get a credit average then you should not be able to obtain a degree *shrugs*

Well i dont know what you mean by "standards" i do know that the US highschool and below standards are quite low but when it comes to university's it depends quite a bit on which one you are going to and what you are majoring in. The country doesnt matter as much as the school and major, iam sure there are people here that have trouble in one of the universitys and can go to some aussie school and get good marks.

Getting credit average in non-gen ed classes will not get someone a degree in my school btw. You must have the min of a 3.0 avg (In a 4 point scale) in your core classes and none of them can be a under a 70%. But just getting a 3.0 avg isnt very good for your record either.

I dunno. I took a lot of honors classes and slacked off a lot, but because of the honors classes, my gpa was 4.2 o.o

That all changed when I went to college T.T

User Posted Image whats this strange grading system i see before me? we never had any letters, everything was out of 10 or 20 or 50 or whatever. not that it was any less confusing. to get into university, the grades of the last 2 years counted for 50% and the other 50% was all on the final exams which were then scaled (i still dont get how that works, but somehow i got 96. cant complain). there were no such thing as multiple choice in any of my exams >.< everything was written. sore hands, sore hands. esp economics. 4 essays + short answers in 3 hours. that was evil *shudders*

Well, I'm in Grade 12 now, and let's see....My grade 10 year was all around 70 and 80s. Then I gone to grade 11 where I decided to not go to school a lot (Actually, my body did. I was sick and had at least 50 absences per semester, but because I was born with health issues, they let me stayed in the courses) So my grades in my gr.11 year was around the 50s range.

This year, Imma put my soul into it and get back my usual grades...I hope.

I guess that it depends on where you live. My school combines essays and multiple choice, so you have to be able to write well and know lots of facts. Too many kids got good at bsing their way through every essay and not doing a lot of work...

This letter system is the standard in the US and in Britain/Commonwealth of Nations.

I was always in top 10 in the class before high school, but in the high school there were so many distraction XD (ok mainly are games I admit it), so my grade went down into average.
