My favorite plots are with a girl that is strong emotionally or physically who has either a male rival or just someone she hates. Then, through certain events, they both find out they are crushing on each other. I'm not a big fan of 'love at first sight' so there would have to be things that happen which show each others strong points. A few fights here, a little competition, then love. I hate love triangles, but i love jealousy because every healthy relationship needs a bit of it.

You would have liked Special A, then? And maybe Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne. But yeah, love triangles are a pain sometimes.

Healthy...relationship.... 🤢 This may be true, but it's gonna have to do some shoving to fit in my head. Jealousy can be really destructive, you know. Though...if it's only a little bit...eh. Too hard.

this topic is intresting

I'm glad you think so. 😀

The angsty kinds or the ones that ends in tragedy. 😀

And love triangles/rectangles/pentagons are awesome. ;3

And I admit, I don't hate reverse harems. (:

Hmmm... I guess what I like is best described as an unrealistic relationship with realistic characters. Make any sense to you? I guess examples of unrealistic relationships would be StudentxTeacher, BrotherxSister, etc., and realistic characters are people who are not perfect in everything, like a normal everyday person. I can't stand one where a character seems perfect at everything or a character is completely pathetic (there's too many of them out there...)

I have a weakness for reverse harems and tragedies. I like reverse harems set in school but except for that, I can't stand school-life romances, shoujo or not, I see enough everyday drama to also read about it in mangas.
I also have an obsession with drama/tragedies they're excellent with supernatural themes.
Love triangles are tricky to handle though, I only liked a few out of all I've read. But if done correctly, they're amazing.

Guy falls in love with his bike/car and the 2 live happily together forever.... At least until he finds a faster bike/car.

switch girl for car and faster for shinier and you've got the typical romance.

I like normal, healthy relationships;stuff that's comic, but low key - like Nodame or LovCom or even Kokou Debut. No pregnancies, abuse, rape, incest, etc.-just every day problems.

Guy is head over heels in love with a thick-headed girl. Examples: Special A, Kaichou wa Maid-sama!, some other ones.

I like the plot where girl meets jerk but jerk becomes nice and falls for the girl. Or the plot where the girl and famous idol guy fall in love. 🤢

I love it when both halves of the couple are in complete denial. and romantically retarded.

have to agree on that one,its so childish, its adorable xDD

i also like romances dealing with delinquents or other social look down upons (i think,i just invented a word??xD)
but all in all,for me its mostly depends on the characters

what i don't like is 15 volumes of love/hate getting together and after they do get together - the end...wtf, thats when the real fun and problems start...

oh and i don't really like harems nor reverse harems...
(i would like to read something in which a superhero is killing of main male characters in harem mangas for their stupidity and incompetence)

...love triangles are ok

I'm really into cleches, especially shoujo ones, but I like the plots where there is an older woman, and a younger guy falling in love and trying to make it work...
Though, they are not shoujo... but josei. Like Itadakimasu!
Toshiue no Hito also.

I also like plots where the romance is subtle, so you kind of need to wait for it, and you can't get enough from it. 🙄

I'll list my favorite shoujo, though not really romatic at thr begining..
Fruits Basket
Penguin Kakumei
and Bara no Tameni oh, wait, that's josei...

LOL romantically retarded. I have never seen it expressed quite so eloquently. That had me laughing for a long time. Anyway back on topic, I like it when a guy is hopelessly in love with the girl but the girl is completely oblivious to his feelings. I guess I enjoy watching the guy squirm 🙂
