Hmmm...maybe about 8-9? I dunno, but I do read a lot of manga (about 300-ish) and I do remember the names of mangaka.

In terms of remembering character names, probably a 3.
In terms of predicting plots, probably a 8.7.
In terms of number of manga series read, a definite 10, if not higher....
I've actually read so much that sometimes I'll read a "new" series and then realize that I've read it already from like 5 years ago...
I can't stop though, manga is definitely going to be a life long thing for me!

6/7 - I've read a lot and know titles but I'm nowhere near as knowledgable as some people. Having said that my students are working on this so I might get better in a year or 2. (I'm teaching in Japan atm)

Plus dozens of good mangas are droped...so it's hard to judge how much did u really read=|
But i'm pretty confident with my knowledge =)

Does it count if several hundred of those titles are yaoi?
I have read a lot of manga from many different genres and mangaka.
But I don't actually know much about the background - how manga is made and produced, the history of manga, etc.
I think it would teach me more about manga than just reading another series.

*bump*
genre diversity : shoujo, shounen, josei, seinen, a little bit shounen ai.
*(5 out of 8, exclude yaio, yuri, shoujo ai) * 62.5% or just 6
interested in : drama, romance, tragedy, angst. Knowledge in those categories 7.
dislike : gag, comedy, loli. Knowledge in those categories 1.
recognizing characters/remembering names or titles : 4, may be 3.
remembering plots/scenes : 8-9.
plot predictability : shoujo 9.5, shounen 8.5, seinen 6, josei 8.
Just my own calculation.

I'd say I'm about 8 then. By now I can easily predict which character has gotta have some kind of trauma, who's gonna end up with who, and which details will matter later on in the series. And so on...

Naaaaw ... that's hard. I really read a lot of manga, I think. But... I am really bad at remembering names of mangas, mangakas and characters, so my actual knowledge is quite limited, I think? I'm really good at remembering plots, though.
So predicting-plots-wise, I might end on 8 or 9, but with everything else it must be 4 (or 3 ... or 2..). Gah, it actually nags me a bit! Maybe I'm just too lazy to remember names...
Hahaha, I was thinking the same thing.

On the scale of 10, I'm probably 8.
I read a lot of mangas, but I only remember titles of the mangas that gave a good impression on me. All those other mangas are immediately deleted from my computer.
Genres like psychological/Dsytopian/tragedy mangas are probably 9 in my knowledge on those categories.
Other genres like Shounen and Seinen are probably on the scale of 7.
Yaoi (5), I like Yaoi but I'm a picky reader. Most of the yaoi I read are not memorable.
Yuri/Hentai (0)
I also have very limited knowledge on classic mangas (the mangas produced in the 80s and early 90s) (0) and shoujo romance mangas (2).

I think there is a lot about manga that I don't even have a glimmer of an idea about.
Simply basing one's knowledge of the subject on a "few" series definitely does not equate to a high number.
There is more to manga then just the paper, ink, and story.
