Hi.
I'm embarrassed really, but it's been a long time since I was so moved by any manga. It was so unexpected, I thought it's gonna be sth like Umisho, but it's become such a deep story!

And as for the ending - it still hurts me that others were rejected, but we all knew that's going to happen from the start, right? That's where the whole beauty lies - a true tragedy, saturated with emotions. Countless times I was close to cry, just to laugh loudly some time later.

I've just finished reading, took me nearly three days non-stop and guess what? Today I've started to read it again! Don't know why, but aside from Vampire:Mascarade - Bloodlines, which I've finished three times in one month last year I can't recall anything that would draw my attention so powerfully since the encounter with Berserk series, about three years ago.

In my mind, ending is great. Like the whole story. And well, it's obvious that some people will be unhappy about it, but again - that's the whole purpose - to make us feel those emotions so deeply. All of them, joy, sadness, and a heartbreak. Ichigo twisted my heart so strongly that I was 16 again, with those hot summers, and family with friends coming over, and all that wondrous world of new schools, new places, first jobs, and, well, living with your whole heart. It helped me to remember what it's like to be young, because being 26 I already slowly started to forget it. Thank you :]

Ahh i saw this thread and just had to make an account and be apart of it. biggrin (This websites pretty cool too)

well anyways im a bit embarrassed too because usually im the guy that everyone turns to for a good laugh but this manga was like mind blowing haha. I was like getting all teary eyed and stuff at the end... cant believe it lol.

i thought nishino was cool though because she spent so much intimate time with manaka ( excluding satsuki, she was like raping him so that doesnt count) and she had like the maddest personality out of all of them anyways bigrazz aya was alright too but yeah... too shy... and i liked satsuki for being so optermistic and fun, you know what i liked all the chicks except yui! whyd the author make yui lol its like she just thought "ooo this mangas getting a bit too awesome better ruin it just a little" xD

Okay serious now >:[ The ending was good, i was rooting for nishino most of the time because like i said i thought she was the best chick but i couldnt help but feel sorry for aya and satsuki.

nishino for life <3 *drool*

if in the end, that stupid manaka wouldn't end up going out with aya, why the hell at the whole chapters he keep on trying to prevent amachi to approach aya? like he is the one that would be with aya...but yet he choose nishino...embarrassed ...what a selfish dude...

aya spent more hard time with manaka...when manaka was down...or when aya was down...they support each other...when the other girls only spent more good times with him...i think i want aya to succeed...coz, "a true friend/love will always there when u r down, not only when u r happy..." but manaka is too stupid to recognize that...its not aya's fault...she is girl anyway...manaka is the one who should confess to her...he is a man, so he should act like a man...
its not like i don't like nishino, i love em all...but she is the most popular and the most beautiful between em...its a cliche that the main character would end up going out with the most beautiful girl...

when i finished reading this manga...i just can't sleep well for at least a week...i don't know why, i think there is something missing...it keeps bothering me...i'm feeling pain...and i don't know whyconfused dead salute for the mangaka...she can makes us feel the emotion that the characters have...pain,happiness,sadness,all r mixed together...

finally, after 3 years since i finished reading it, i can finally forget those pain...and i can finally admit the ending, although it would be better if it ended the other way...(and finally i can say) it's ok that manaka ended with nishino...but what about the othersconfused its still unfinished...it would be better if the mangaka not only paired manaka n nishino at the ending...but she should have paired the other girls with some other guys in this series...like what she did for misuzu in the last special chapter...so everyone would be satisfied...not a one sided ending like this...

Damn bad mouthing manaka...but since i don't feel like going into a long rant ill say that Junpei chose Nishino since he spent the most time with her outside of school unlike Aya where he could only talk about school and the movie. Also Junpei didn't want to hold Aya back since she was doing something with her life while Junpei was still deciding if he really wanted to be a director and he could do that while Nishino was away in France (not sure can't remember) doing her own thing, which he couldn't do with Aya cause he would of held her back from becoming the best that she should be. Just like in the last chapter where Aya won many awards while Junpei only got to work with a famous director.

Whew haven't talked like that about Ichigo in a while

@amachi : u r absolutely right, dude! that manaka is so selfish!

hm..about amachi (in the series...not u dude...haha)...everyone who read this manga would seem to hate him...me too at 1st...but after i finished reading all the volume and saw the ending...i begin to support him...
he is actually a good guy...he only love aya,he really love aya that he would abandon all the other girls who try to chase him, although he is a bit forceful to make aya turn to him...
not like manaka...manaka loves aya, and he keep trying to prevent amachi to chase aya...but still, manaka also chase another girls, and he also abandoned aya at the end...what a jerk...

and also amachi can regocnize aya when she dressed like a geek...even manaka can't do that! cause manaka used to mistook the geek aya as another person...and at the very end, amachi still not giving up on chasing aya...the only mistake that he done is to steal a kiss from aya...that was to forceful, man! but its okay, manaka hv done many mistake too, and mizuki-sensei give him many chance to repair it...but mizuki-sensei didn't give any chance for amachi to patch-up his mistake...and in the ending...after 4 years...nobody knows where amachi is...and also ookusa and kozue

what i learn from amachi is :
~focus on only one girl when u chase a girl...not a multiple girls like manaka...cause, at the end, a guy like manaka would hurt the other girls...
~and also i learn from his mistake...not to be to forceful when chasing a girl...haha

ah...its been a long time since the last time i talked bout this manga...but now since it has been released in US now...its a good moment to bring back those memories...hahaha

yeah! thats right sotomura!

hm...maybe mizuki-sensei want to make the ending just like dorama "tokyo love story" where the main actor didn't end up with the main actress...but they r actually love each other...and each of em ended up going out with the other supporting characters...a good ending, while it can be a sad ending too...

or...

mizuki-sensei just suddenly change her mind when writing the last volume...coz i think there is still a big chance for aya to be with manaka at the ending when we read until vol.18...

or...

mizuki-sensei just end it that way on purpose...so we as a reader would got many different thinking each other so we would always discuss it like this...then, we couldn't just forget this manga...

------

btw, u r right sotomura...since it has been released in US now, mizuki-sensei and the japanese publisher should consider again to make something new about this manga to surprise all the fans in US, maybe by making some new merchandise, or making some special one-shot as a continuation of the manga to tell us what happen on that 4 years or after that reunion,we need only a short but good story, just like what mizuki-sensei did for misuzu...it is a good moment to promote it again so it would be more popular like aa megami sama or love hina...coz they r a bit abandoned ichigo 100%...just look at the official site...no updates, many broken links, and it still the same as 2 years ago...completely abandoned...

before i continue, i would like to say...I'M A NISHINO FAN...I LIKE HER THE MOST...coz she is the cutest among em...

BUT...

i have to say...I DON'T LIKE THE ENDING...why?

this is a manga, not reality...destiny is something vital for manga...while u think u can change the destiny in reality...
i mean...the main hero (manaka) supposed to end up with the main heroine (toujo)...if he end up with the secondary heroine (nishino)...then its a secondary ending too...
so its not the best ending...although its not a bad ending...
...but by the ending, i feel like when i read the last volume, it seems like its not ichigo 100% anymore...more like ichigo 75% confused
coz the appearance of another girl (like nishino) supposed to be some kind of obstacle to reach the completion of the main mission...
the main mission is clearly stated in the title, ichigo 100%...so its about the strawberry girl, that girl is toujo...not nishino...
so i should say that the mission failed in the last volume and became ichigo 75%

but! if u still persist that we should use our logical thinking...okay, i would say...
we as the readers were made to believe from the 1st volume until volume 18, that manaka would end up with toujo in the end...
the appearance of amachi is one strong point to it....manaka always trying to prevent amachi to chase toujo like manaka is the one that would end up
with toujo...
and kawashita mizuki sensei show it by the most scenes r dedicated to toujo...and of course by the title too, ichigo 100%...
and its mean its dedicated for the strawberry girl, and that girl is toujo...not nishino...
but why did kawashita mizuki sensei keep convincing us that manaka would end up with toujo (ichigo100%) until vol.18 but suddenly at vol.19
she change it to nishino (ichigo75%) ?
i think she did it on purpose! she suddenly spin the plot like that to make the fans keep arguing about it...so people would feel uneasy and couldn't easily forgeting this manga...
she can control everything as she like since she is the author...thats reality...thats the logical thinking...
so if u keep persist to see it from the logical thinking, the conlusion is : this is a manga, everything happened was made by
the author...so any love can suddenly lost if the author wanted to...

thats what i don't like from the ending...
i mean, it's not about cliche...it's not about which girl that i love most...its about how the author can keep it consistent...
as i said before...i admit it that i love nishino the best! i don't really like toujo, satsuki and the others...
but it doesn't mean i have to agree with the inconsistent ending like that...if she said the title was ichigo 100% then she should end it like ichigo 100%!
for example...if the title BATMAN & ROBIN...no matter how u hate ROBIN...we still can't replace him with BATGIRL...except if we change the title
to BATMAN & BATGIRL...what the hellconfused
and if u think that if manaka >< toujo ending would become another cliche...
what about..."SON GOKU and the others finally can beat majin boo in the end of DRAGONBALL"...do u think that it was another cliche from the similiar action manga too?

again...it's not about cliche...it's not about which girl that i love most...its about how the author can keep it consistent...
but if u ask me which girl that i love most...i'll always state...NISHINO TSUKASA!
i just don't like the inconsistent ending!

Oh my god, am I imagining things or are Sotamura and Amachi very alike. laugh Their accounts have been created one day from eachother.

And Ichigo 100%'s ending was perfect. There are lots of intricate posts in here that show why Nishino was the best option.

I think I understand what Sotomura is saying. And sorry for using this quote again, but it does make a point.

Quote from amachi
i mean...if the mangaka want to make it different from the others, better make it on the story, not the ending...

If Kawashita was trying to make it different from the start (And I stress that "was" part), then she should've made the entire story somewhat different from other romance stories instead of just following the same process that all of the others have done. This is why I think that Kawashita is a horrible mangaka, because her stories have been done before and have been done better.

The thing about the ending isn't a thing about who ended up with him. It's about how hasty everything turned. I hoped a more detailed ending, a real one. When I finished reading volume 18 I thought damn another one of those hasty ending with nonsense revelation. To my disappointment it was just as I thought. Nishino wasn't a bad choice for the final girl but the way it was reveled it was just absurd. This mangaka tend to not have a good way with ending, Lillim Kiss and Akane-chan overdrive were quite good mangas that were left with pathetic ending. Ichigo was my favourite (pretty close to Lillim, only better for the length of the story) but the end was far from good.
I repeat the girl of choise isn't the one at fault but the way it ended. Too suddenly and really rushed.

The ending wasn't rushed. It had a perfect pace. It's just that the middle part was dragged out. =__= So, that's why it may seem that it went at a faster pace. And I also recall that the mangaka made a poll of who the readers want Manaka to end up with, and ended up to be Nishino, and so she listened to her magazine readers.
