I am looking for a series that's not the embodiment of Shounen (aka Naruto, One Piece, Bleach etc.), but would fall in that genre.
Something that has a team of henchmen (like Trigun's Gung Ho Gun) with exotic designs like Gung Ho Guns, not too long 5-30 volumes, doesn't have a world filled with tools that can save the planet (monster farming, cards, toys or a combination of it all).
I prefer a relativily new series, since I haven't followed the japanese comic scene for 2 years.

Rurouni Kenshin matches the idiot hero with an impressive reputation...but you may have read it before and it's a bit long...
Kurohime would almost fit except for the fact that everything in the world could save it; but it does have guns, henchmen, and backstory.
Claymore does also fit into the deserted world w/bad guys and monsters, the designs are generally all the same between the claymores though (yes, technically they are the henchmen)...

Thanks for all your input.
@tokyo_homi
Shin Angyo Oshi doesn't have the band of special boss-like characters? At least not in an animation I've seen from it. Do you know?
Drifter, the boss-like characters are a bunch of excisting characters from history, and therefor lack the kinda creative character designing im looking for in a comic.
@azureblueinfinite
I know Rurouni Kenshin.
Kurohime looked interesting but where are the boss-like characters? I've only seen the angels of death thing, they all look alike. Need some nice varied character designs.
Claymore like you say it's all about the claymores and the designs are pretty much the same.
Ares don't know about that, from info I kind fid theres no boss-like characters in it.
But again thanks for your input, those who've contributed. Aprreciated.

But what do you mean with "not embodiment of the shounen genre"?
You're basically asking for the most significant (at least for me) shounen cliché (beating the middle boss -> becoming stronger -> beating the next boss -> etc.).
