Yeah.

I'm 17, and I've a 10 year old brother.

Day to day stuff. We get along. He looks up to me, and as such, has learned to not be a dumbass like every other kid his age, by emulating me. Listens to good music, plays good games, etc. As he's considerably younger, I do almost all the work around here. I don't mind much, though. He doesn't cause much trouble. He can be annoying, but he's a kid. Violence isn't an issue. Maturity isn't an issue. Mostly 'cause I don't expect him to be mature. He's 10. He makes for good company though, when I'm stuck at home.

Beyond day to day stuff...

I should note that he likely is and always has been the most important person in my life. I mean, he's my brother. I think a lot of people don't look at that relationship the same way as I do, but for me... He's my brother. I would do, literally, anything for him. Without question, I would kill a man. I would die. Because he's my brother, and more over, my little brother. Whatever he needs, I'll do.

But, many siblings aren't as close as we are. Not all situations are the same.

That's just how it is for me.

At any rate, to the point? I voted yes, because I would never want to be without the kid.

...

Well, maybe an hour here or there.

Nope, for me they take up your living space.Unless your parents are filthy rich to buy a house big enough for all of you I wouldn't recommend it.I lived way happier when I was an only child.

There not that bad. It always seems to me that I'm happier having siblings than I'd be if I had none. And many only children seemed badly adjusted in school.

However, Chibineko is still wrong.

actually i'm the only male to extend the family name (21 cousins aside)
feel the pressure

and if we start vendetta with another family i'm screwed

and i wasn't badly adjusted in school, just more active than the other children

Im 19 and I have a sister whose 14mths older (20) and a brother whose 22mths younger (17). When we were younger we lived far from our school so played with each other from a young age, especially since we're all so close age wise (there's exactly 3 years between my brother and sister). We have always been really close but that also meant our fights were epic, we regularly beat each other up. My sister and me shared a room but are polar opposites which made things a living Hell sometimes. However I wouldn't ever not have my siblings with me.

When I was being bullied and beaten up by lads my siblings were the ones who protected me and made sure it never happened again. My sister once sat up with me all night when I was 6 because i'd had a nightmare and couldn't sleep. Also, as we've gotten older (16+), we fight less and are so close now we hang out and play game together when I'm home, plus we talk online when I'm away at uni. We also share friends since all our friends, like us, are similar in age.

In short we fight, argue and are so totally different but I love my siblings to bits. I learnt to share from day one and I've always had someone beside me. Nothing in the world compares to the security of having a sibling. I'm determined to have my children as close in age as me and my siblings are so they get to experience the closeness I feel even if it does mean I'll be playing referee when I'm older.

I voted no to siblings. my younged sister has caused me so much stress i'm going to lose 10 years off of my life. i know for some people its nice to have the company but for me my life would have turned out better if i didn't have any siblings.

Wow, what kind of 5 year old wrote this question? Did you just have a fight with your sister or something? Let me tell you something, and maybe I am too old to be on this site anyway, but siblings are a wonderful thing. In your teens you may fight with them but you ought to grow out of that. I understand some people never mature but then you are to blame not your family. They don't control you... you control you. Stop playing WOW all day and get a life!

NOT GOOD! Siblings have one mission: To annoy us till the point where we have to strangle someone.

when i was young i would have said HELL NO. but now i realize that they build character (at least for me). i can't say that i have many "happy" experiences with my siblings but i wouldn't be me if they weren't alive.

also, BEING OLDEST SUCKS!

siblings teach u how to fight, and how to act around other kids. kid growing up with siblings will have alot more confidence come first day of school than a kid who's been babied all his life.

I vote no...
I'm an only child, and I like it that way.
From what I heard from my friends, if you have younger siblings they're often bratty.
If you have older siblings they're often bullies.
so there
Only bad thing about being an only child is that your source of entertainment at home mostly comes from the com.

Besides... being an only child does not mean you are babied... nor does it mean you don't have such great social skills... you can pick those up from child care and kindergarten, surely?
I'm an only child but I have tons of friends...
