We did this poll 5 years ago, but princess_bubblegum suggested we do it again. The options are similar to last time, with a couple of additions and changes. I left the e-sports option as a joke answer, but still missing are things that would be considered board games. And the absence of a "None" or "Other" option is on purpose, so deal with it. Last time, the top 3 were martial arts, archery, and e-sports.

I'm curious how many users of the site have ever spent money on this hobby.

Boxing has proven to be a ready made metaphor for nearly anything but i choose the more broad Martial Arts. Fighting it is and no more of these formulaic high school baseball copy and paste jobs about going to Koshien.
Ashita no Joe is the best sports manga, ´nuff said.

Didn't see Go/Chess/Board games, so I went with E-sports.
Needs more Hikaru.

None, the only sport manga that I truly like is REAL but it's more for the plot than the sport

I chose e-sports since Umehara Daigo, has his own manga already. I'd like to see more people in the FGC get the same treatment as well.

I chose Wrestling.
I'd love to read a Japanese take on Lucha libre.

I've read a couple of romance manga that were about archery and enjoyed them. But it's really hard to choose one when there are so many options. I don't even really like sports, but a good manga could make any sport interesting. But for me the manga would have to be about more than just the sport. I've watched clips of sports anime before and they seem to take the smallest thing and make a huge deal of it and it just makes me want to blow my brains out.

Swimming. Preferably with only girls in it.

Same, wanted to put chess, think I could vote Archery (but then think about how long flashback would be before the shoot) and ended up voting E-sports.
Also, you could check Sangatsu no Lion (shogi).

The poll includes e-sports, but doesn't include stuff like Go and shogi!? (or just a "boardgames" entry) WTF!?
BTW: For those who don't know/accept it:
Both e-sports and chess/go/shogi, fully qualify as sports.
There is no need for a sport to involve physical activity ...nor do all physical activities, qualify as sports.
Do you have regular competitions/tournaments for the activity?
Then it's a sport.
If not, then it isn't.
(there are competitions for stuff like snowball fighting and rock-paper-scissors, but they're quite rare and tiny, so they don't qualify)
One of my favourite sport manga, among my favourite manga overall, is Glass Mask.
Granted, it's not actually about a sport
...but it has the same feel to it, that sport manga generally have.
Hence I count it as one, though it technically isn't.

Chose martial arts, I like manga where fights are viewed from a more techinical viewpoint. E-Sports also seem interesting, but I haven't read a good one yet.
As others have said, there's lots of options missing. Another major one is (competitive) dancing.

Kinnikuman is one of the most famous manga of all time. (Can´t say i am a fan though.)

This is not correct. Chess, go, shogi, xiangqi, mahjong, poker, bridge, etc., are games, not sports. Any game can have tournaments or competitions, but that doesn't make it a sport.
The definition of sport when speaking of competition does strictly refer to those competitions based upon physical exertion and skill. Certain interested parties have attempted to water down the definition of sport to suit their purpose, but it's certainly not standard just yet.
Now e-sports can plausibly be argued to be a sport, given that they revolve pretty heavily around hand-eye coordination and reaction time, a physical skill not present in any of the games listed above.

Animals just doing their own thing is enough to get official recognition. Acting isn´t a sport though. I will cut in at least there.

Many dictionaries and encyclopaedias use similar sources and denominations and refer to sport as a physical or athletic activity, with often an element of competition. In addition, the more “democratic” source of definitions Wikipedia specifically mentions mind sports and motorised sports in which the physical activity is not dominant. Wikipedia also makes the link to art, which is an interesting link for sports that rely on judges. The current SportAccord membership shows the full breadth of the above.
The sports within SportAccord can be classified in the following categories:
Primarily physical
Primarily mind
Primarily motorised
Primarily coordination
Primarily animal-supported
Some sports have been classified in multiple categories; this is mostly due to different disciplines.
The SportAccord definition of sport:
With regard to new applications, SportAccord uses the following definition of a sport:
The sport proposed should have an element of competition.
The sport proposed should in no way be harmful to any living creatures.
The sport should not rely on equipment that is provided by a single supplier.
The sport should not rely on any “luck” element specifically designed into the sport.
