Here's my opinion.
Love Hina: greatest manga of all time!

I began reading manga a while ago, between 1990 and 1995, I don't really remember. A friend of mine lent me battle angel alita at that time (gunm in french), and I loved it. A bit later (1995) I began buying the "Akira" manga, which is incredibly better then the anime! After the Akira manga, I was hooked, but couldn't really buy much manga at that time as I didn't have money(It took me 1,5 year to finish akira manga also...). 4 years later I began downloading anime, as I didn't have an internet connection before, and then began buying manga again.

Around 1994, when I was a student. Some days, I just didn't eat to keep the money to buy more books...
I have around 2000 physical manga(s), and readed a lot more since scanlation exists. And yes, I buy the books if I liked the the scanlated version.

My first books were things like Video Girl Ai, from Katsura, Ranma 1/2, ...

Am I an otaku ? No. I don't like cosplays, don't care about the authors, don't care about the conventions, and prefer by far my real life to any manga or anime.

I started reading manga and watching anime at more or less the same time. Love Hina was my first anime series, which I found very amusing and when I read that the manga storyline continues I decided to start my manga reading career.

Do I have to mention that I got hooked? smile

Uhm.. this was for 2 years ago, give or take.

I seriously read manhwa/manga when I was a little kid back in Korea like 15 years ago.
But Stopped reading them when I came to U.S. because I had to learn English =P
Just a note, I never got into Comics... Not as interesting to me, too many OP characters flying around and such... pretty boring to me actually lol

I started reading again last year when I found Claymore =D.
Most of the ones I've been reading are ongoing, 17 on my reading list 4 on completed, and I think 5 I decided not to finish.

I've been reading manga for over ten years. Started along time ago with early Viz titles (such as Fist of The North Star).

Over the years I got into Anime more, and then eventually settled into liking Manga more.

I've for over three hundred physical volumes, as well as over 50 GB of digital stuff.

I read when I can, as I am often busy now, especially with my other hobbies (such as video games).

i started around 2001, the first title to read scanlated was Rurouni Kenshin, the lasts volumes. Since then i had read quite a lot and can´t be certain about the number of titles i had read, i had a bad long term memory (lol, short term memory is quite good...) so i often forget about titles i already had read.

For ten years. I don't know how many - a lot. Maybe 2000 tanks. I don't read scanlations and I buy all my manga, so there may be people out there who've read more.

Bought my first manga back in 1995/1996: Aa! Megami-Sama (Ah! My Goddess). It was the original Japanese manga so I had to scour the interwebs for translations (not scanlated). I still remember holding the manga in my hands while reading the translations on the computer.

Bought my first Americanized manga in 2002: Love Hina and GTO

I've got bookcases full of the stuff and countless other series on the PC but haven't been able to read everything yet because of real life responsibilities.

How long? I remember the first manga I read is Doraemon 13 years ago, when I was at grade 3. And Doraemon is also the only manga my parents allow to read. From then, everything related to manga has been done in secret. ;) ;) ;) ;)
