The cliche: The girl is stupid, not pretty, not popular, annoying, loves to get in the business of other people. The guy is hot, smart, good at sports, popular, rich. The girl is loved by thousands of other people, and the guy only loves the girl. The girl doesn't know who to choose when there are two main guys who want her.

She doesn't even have a good figure. Who likes a stupid, figureless, annoying girl? I want to find someone like that in real life.

I hate that. SO MUCH. It pisses me off to the point that I want to break my monitor by throwing something at the girl.

Best example: Kare First Love. (Something of that sort)

I like shoujo with interesting main characters who aren't stupid to the point of insanity. Thank God for people like Kyoko in Skip Beat.

I despise it when a boy meets a girl, falls in loves, and then they're all mushy and gooey with each other 2 chapters later. I just hate that. X____X xDD



I completely agree with you.It's annoying how they yell "no" all the time and don't do anything about it.

alright this might have been said already, but seriously, whats with one or the other in the relationships in so many manga going to america. I feel like America is the biggest reason for drama in shoujo manga. How many times must someone go to america for 1+ years.

It's pathetic when you see the main girl character screams and cries and blahblahblahs... And after it's all over, the guy's like.. I'm sorry, did I hurt you?

And what does she say? No, you didn't hurt me.

And the guy and the girl repeat the process.. Reminds me a lot of those manga but Shinju Maya (sp?)

when the guys a total jerk but the girl likes him anyway. example: hot gimmick

1) Chick is unpopular with the guys, poor, flat-chested, etc... And SUDDENLY! 2+ gorgeous guys like her and she doesn't know who to choose!!! =O
And of course, one of those guys is a childhood friend who NEVER gets chosen. >_>

2)Chick who always has to make everything 'right' and she has a bunch of morals and shit, and the guy likes her for that. She's dim when he comes to love, and can't understand why so many guys like her, and she LOVES food to an extreme but somehow manges to keep her weight. I know, we all love food, and some are like that (me for example), but please be more realistic. A lot of girls these days (if not all), know when a guy is flirting with her, or not.

This is why Orihime from Bleach is so much more well suited for shoujo. Then she would def. get with Ichigo.


I don't understand this. How can you burn rice constantly. It's a staple food. There are rice cookers that are so simple to use.

The rape misconception and anytime of sibling love are what really bother me. Other things do but those are my least favorite.

*Oh I remember I want to know why no one is Japan is worried about STDs. Perhaphs less prevalent I couldn't find that many statistics. But the only shoujo(actually manga in general) I've read that mentions it is Deep Love

Oh, I know one: Girl and guy are near each other. And then somehow (like they get pushed, someone bumps into them, etc...) they end up kissing accidentally.
I hate this one. It seems so unnatural, too. Chances of kissing someone near you when you get pushed or something is low...loooooow.

The main character falls in love with the most popular boy in school.

Okay just for this topic I specifically signed up for the forum to post...

The ABSOLUTE WORST SHOUJO CLICHE would have to be 3 things:

(1) The 'so-called plain-looking main girl character' complains how pretty other girls when I can't even find anything bad about her! I see no pimples, they always have good eyebrows, cute clothing, heck the hotties always seem to fall for those. Real-life wise, what would we be? Slugs?

(2) The whole entire extremely good-looking bad boy kisses girl and girl hates him for it. Not that they have to feel good about being kissed randomly, but I would never hit or freak out on a hottie kissing me. "You stole my 1st kiss" is not something you'd say to a gorgeous guy.

(3) This one makes me pull my hair out. The 'dizzy and not so studious main character' would always get excellent grades simply by deciding to do so. I've never heard of someone getting 47s and 19s on their test scores and somehow on the finals jump into the top 90 scorers. And it's only after, what? 3 pages? Not that likely to happen in reality.

Well it's not impossible, it happened to me and my best friend before ;__; she wasn't a sexy bishie though ToT

how about when the girl falls for the guy at love at first sight. He turns out to be a jerk. Dislikes him and end up liking him again. I hate those. I guess im not really a fan at love a first sight...
