I think all of Yoshinaga Fumi's works are worth buying:
Gerard and Jacques
Don't Say Any More, Darling
Ichigenme... The First Class Is Civil Law
The Moon and the Sandals
Solfege
And these are some by different authors:
From Eroica with Love (you said no old school art, but this is good old school 😉 )
Future Lovers
Hybrid Child
In the Walnut
Two of Hearts
Surprisingly(?), not many of my favorites have been licensed. I guess that spares me the temptation to spend money.

BUTTSMEX!!!1!: Mister Mistress
Seriously though, you can't go wrong with anything published by Blu. Check out their website, they have a really nice catalog.

Beyond My Touch and Only the Ring Finger Knows are both shounen ai, but very cute. Especially Beyond My Touch. ^^ And then Eerie Queerie! is adorable and interesting if you like the paranormal, and the scanlations were never finished (though I'm sure you could find the official english release online somewhere >.>). For yaoi, I definitely recommend Reverse!? even though it was scanlated... too bad most of what I want to suggest were all scanlated before. Sorry that most of these are shounen ai. >.< Oh and if no one has mentioned Tenohira no Seiza, that's nice too.
