you know the manga that comes out in japan sometimes has a unique " fashion¨, maybe the publishers decide that they want to publish more of yaoi this month, and then more shoujo next month. It´s like people in the us suddenly like to wear black but once they get bored of it, they will start to wear other colors, and maybe someday, they will want to wear black again.
or there´s another possiblity, maybe the other manga of shoujo , horror , and etc...aren´t as famous at the yaoi manga at this time. it really depends on who drew the manga, storyline, the style of art, and sometimes even the publishers.

Actually, I think a lot of yaoi and shounen-ai is scanlated because it's far easier to translate and edit. In comparison to say, manga which have a lot of text on super-complicated drawings and on screentones.
And manga which are very context-heavy and text-heavy with tons of sayings, slangs, technical terms and even terms from foreign cultures.
Anyways, just filter it out if you don't want to see it.

Yes i get what you mean...totally. I've noticed that MOST of the scanlation groups are translating a lot of yaoi. I've read some..but not really a fan, like with cheesy shoujos. And what a lot of other ppl said before is true, like 1 out of 10 yaoi manga is PWP, and with a crappy storyline. But yaoi is made by girls(perv girls i might add) for girls, and possibly more girls are into the whole scanlating business each day, so thats why . BUT if it bothers you THAT much, you can always use the filter button.
But i get what you mean, you are just surprised that SO much ppl are into yaoi. I personally dont really care if yaoi is scanlated, as long as i get the normal(non-yuri, non-yaoi, non-hentai)ones with a decent story.

Don't really know about this anymore since I blocked it. I do remember that when I didn't know about the filter, it seemed like some days 80% of the scanlations were yaoi. I think this is more because of how passionate that community is (aka crazy fan girls); good for them, I guess.

you are crazy.
It's been this way for a good while, not that surprising really. It just means lots more people are scanlating those, really not that big a deal.
and like others have said, just filter it if you don't like it, meh.

wow, i remember this topic was like ages old xD...most of the people who posted here don't even post anymore...
every since the break-through, extremely innovative and advanced button called "filter" was created, i haven't seen any yaoi, yuri, lolicon, shoutacon, or hentai in the daily releases....i bet if i disable the filter, i'll have to scroll through hundreds and hundreds of daily releases of doujin/yaoi...
i don't see what's the fuss with boyxboy love though....all the yaoi i've seen so far are pretty retarded....there're only a handful of titles that actually surpassed 2 volumes, since the rest just follow the formula of: meet -> notice -> retarded coincidences -> sex -> sex in the shower -> sex in the kitchen -> sex in ___
yaoi plots are like shoujo/smut plots - short, unrealistic, repetitive, and just plain ridiculous

I also think its because people are now more "open minded" about gays, that yaoi has become more popular than before. Just like how in my school, they even have shounen-ai/yaoi manga.
I am also one of those persons who uses the power of the OH MIGHTY FILTER! XD
Although before quitting yaoi, I did notice that the releases page would be super extended...it sometimes too up the whole screen and a bit more (exaggerating?), so yeah, now I don't know...But it's probably because of society becoming more open minded about that people can read it anywhere and not find it weird. =___=

I'd say maybe, since I just recently start to read yaoi and shounen-ai so I'm not yet familiar with the groups scanlating yaoi and shounen ai. But I found a group that scanlates a lot of them.

maybe? but I don't really mind because I've recently started to get into yaoi. and if you don't like it you can filter it, and if you love it that's good for the reader

Balme the fangirls. Like me. No seriously tho, Kinda sorta. Tho there is a good majority, very good majority of shojo too. I guess female mangakas are getting dominant huh... I blame the abundance of yaoi for my obsession with it...

Lately everywhere I look around either completely scanlated, during process or by ranking, boys love manga always comes up! A LOT
Is it just me? is this a new fashion in Japan? does it represent the taste of most? am I being homophobic? or is it just a coincidence that many groups chose the same genre?
Well either way I would like to know everyone "opinion" and I remind you that this is what I think and that by doing this topic/poll I don't want to insult anyone or their taste in manga.

Yeah I think it's true. You can't look up Death note or Bleach or Naruto without a few doujins. popping up as a search result. Usually if you pay attention there are lots of yaoi implications in the manga

Not all yaois are like that but most yes revovle around that. How about yuuri? Doesn't that follow the same concept?

What about shoujo then?~ It's everywhere!!!
lol
I'm just saying, it depends when you check.
If there's a more/a lot of the thing you don't like, surely you'd rant over it.
But that's how it is.
I don't like the fact that candy/smut-shoujo is being scanlated so much, and also the fight-after-fight shounen. But that's the way it is...
Scan groups don't feel/don't want/need popular projects/other about doing the more serious and for some more interesting stuff.
And as much as I love all that is BL related, I think the market is overflooded with smut/plotless yaoi as well.
Again, there's nothing most of us can do, but to suck it up and be gratefull for the great and usually high quality manga we get for free.
