I think for most female otaku, you shouldn't expect to like all of the same anime/manga as she does. You like action/shounen and she likes romance/shoujo. And, more likely then not, she'll probably like at least one series that has male x male aspect to it. The question is, are you mature enough to respect her interests and not act like a jerk about it? Yelling at her that that kind of thing is disgusting is probably not going to make her happy.

true. I wouldnt like being yelled at for liking something and i do like to read BL here and there. i read shonen more than i read shoujo though... smile

I know what you mean. I would never have sex with a girl who was raped either.

J/k of course. But yeah, the "hot girls" in my school make me go limper than a...Ok, I don't really have a good metaphor for that. But the point remains that they are a DO NOT WANT.

When I saw that, I couldn't help think about what a bastard you are... It's not the girl's fault that she was raped. She didn't want it in the first place, or why else would it be rape? But... I saw your "JK" and I cooled a little...

I really dislike all the prejudices and crap about rape. >_>;; Friend was raped and she had such a bad time about it...

Anyways... Good thing that you have tolerance dragon695. Though I personally don't read BL, I admit that I read mainly shoujo. Though I do read shounen sometimes, mainly because the guys in that certain one is just so damn cute. But that's besides the point. I think that people should respect each other's interests. I hate horror and such, but I don't prevent my friends from it. I just refuse to watch it, because I wouldn't be able to sleep that night.

I think that is a stereotype. I mean, I watch a whole bunch of series, and I'm watching about lets say around 20 at the moment. Out of those 20, the ones that are mainly shoujo/romance would probably be 1/2...3 at most. I've noticed that the ones I am watching, the forums I post in, I'm mainly surrounded by guys! So yeah, I don't think its fair to say that all female otakus will watch mainly shoujo/romance...but I can't deny the fact that I do like mine here and there. laugh

Also the fact that male otakus could be watching a whole bunch of hentai or girlxgirl action (yuri's persay) going on. I'm totally fine with that. I don't see why any male otaku should feel uncomfortable with their girlfriend watching that stuff or saying its disgusting (I'm not saying you would, you seem very tolerant). To each their own lol.

Quote from Altairea
I have a friend who has a lot of f*** buddies but never once did he actually do it with his girlfriend. It has something to do with "preserving" his girlfriend's virginity... uh, purity or something...
I can't really explain it very well dead

Does he have these f*** buddies while dating her? Because you know the deepest and darkest part of hell is reserved for cheaters and child molesters. By the way that "preserving her viginity" sounded like a joke, the first thought I had was that when he does take her virginity he will get bored of her and dump her.

Quote from skittles
I went to ask him. And he confirmed it. He was going for my virginity. URG. FREAK.

Where I live we rather not go for a virgin so I do not give a faulty first impression, and I do believe that the first time must be "make love" and not just sex.

By the way how did this thread went from "girls wanting or not an otaku boyfriend" to "taking virginity"?

I wouldn't mind dating a female Otaku except for the fact that:-

1. I don't know any female otaku.
2. I live in Australia and the place I live at the moment (Wagga Wagga) has no Anime fans! I am moving to Adelaide though in a month or so...lots more otaku! I did live in Darwin before for 5 years and knew some anime fans.
3. I'm not a very sociable person.

I personally don't mind what Anime and Manga they read. I don't go around telling people that I am into anime as those I do know that say they are are considered werid. I wouldn't call my self hardcore as I don't own any figures and I prefer dubs to subs but don't mind watching both.

I don't really have any special preference either way. As long as they are not a stalker, I don't mind.

Well, I am a female otaku, and I date nerds. There's something about a guy who gets my jokes and is passionate about something that really does it for me. Plus, they tend to be good in bed; just imagine a guy who takes that concentration from their anime/role-playing/whatever and focuses right on you and your body.

It is effective.
