What are some manga that are good based on storytelling?

Maybe its just me, but most manga I've read are pretty similar in how they tell the story. It doesn't bother me so much as long as it's something that helps and fits the story, but most of the time, the story just feels..."flat"... Basically, I lose interest.

I've seen stories where the storytelling helped made it unique, despite the mediocre art.

Tell me what you think makes good manga storytelling, and some suggested series you feel others may enjoy.

It really depends, you have to kinda first define what you think is "good". I mean, to me a good story is a story that can make a reader lose the feeling of reality and totally absorb a reader until they don't even realize that they're even reading manga anymore. How well can a story lose you and make you want to be lost? How well does the story connect to the reader and make them feel what the character feels? How many readers can this story make feel this way?

This is what defines a good story to me. If they can make me lose self-awareness and just awareness of my surrounding, they're pretty well written.

Usually, I prefer characters with high potential of growing but so subtley, you don't even notice it unless you read the first chapter and the last chapter. Or just being able to connect to the main character is sometimes good enough for me, but usually if I can connect to the main character well enough, usually the other parts of that story are pretty well made as well.

I don't actually know any manga really besides perhaps these four that have done that for me besides:

Rurouni Kenshin
Samurai Deeper Kyo
The Legend of Basara
Kaze Hikaru

The best one from that group is probably Basara, which totally blew me away with everything. I really mean it, Basara is totally the best manga out there, although the anime sucks, the story telling is second to none out there. Try it out for yourself, although the art might be annoying at first, even that grew on me.

I really like Blade of the Immortal. I think it's a great story. Though it starts out fitting the "pattern" of wandering samurai stories, it does unexpected twists that I adore it forever for.

The best manga based on wonderful story would have to be Angel Sanctuary though. That was epic.

Edit:
Sorry I'm a ditz. I totally forgot about Naoki Urasawa! I think he's one of the greatest manga story-tellers out there. His plots are wonderful and twisty things. Check out Monster or 20th Century Boys!
