Personal Improvement

I like reading mangas where the main character impoves himself or herself throughout the story, especially gaining confidence and skills. I'm already reading Glass Mask, Hajime no Ippo, Katekyo Hitman Reborn, History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi. I prefer shoujo and shounen. The thing they can improve can be anything from fighting to sports to just self-confidence. Please, no tragedy. I hate sad endings, etc.

Skip Beat!...kinda...though there's a lot of other (FUN!) stuff mixed in too. 😀

Vagabond. The main character realizes quite a lot during his long journey...he's become a lot different from when he started.

Yeah, I agree with that too.. But Vagabond isn't exactly a Shounen or Shoujo, no..? 😛

I'd definately suggest Mirai Nikki.
You could give Gantz a go.

Um..... How about Suzuka? I think there was a great deal of improvement going on there.

Heh, Hikaru no Go's ending is pretty sad all things considered. Though the first half of both the manga and the anime were excellent. Notice that I mentioned only the FIRST half being excellent. This is due to a certain main character leaving the series which made the quality of the series fall into a downward spiral that inevitably resulted in the death of all that Hikaru no Go was. I may or may not burst into tears whenever I remember this. =T
