Hermit-chan, sorry I just re-read your post and realized you said no bullying and that means my one recommendation doesn't fit your criteria. BTW, I'd wasn't trying to say there's anything *wrong * with reading that type of manga, just it isn't my cup of tea. Heaven knows I'm getting bored of the typical and predictable story lines and characters of the manga I aslo randomly leech off the net too.

To make it up I found some more manga that fit what your looking for.
Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou (His and Her circumstances)
Kodocha (Child's Toy)
both are Comedy, Drama, Psychological, Romance, School Life, Shoujo, Slice of Life
there is abuse and abandonment, they are long series and I enjoyed them.
Do-Re-Mi-Fa-Sol-La-Si-Do it's a
Comedy, Drama, Josei, Romance, School Life, there is double betrayal, traumatic past events, and also it's all done in color, unusual for a manwha.

Well most of the ones I would have said have already been mentioned but I will add a few more though they might not be exactly what your looking for since I focus on fantasy and supernatural as well as Tragedy.

Knife ~ A collection of tragic love stories.

X ~ A lot of the characters have some kind of traumatic past especially Kamui (the main character). Very good but on Hiatus atm.

Diabolo ~ The two main boys have the trauma of the death of their cousin and being blamed for the murder. Confusing at first but good if a bit too short.

07 Ghost ~ Teito has trauma of being a slave as well as a hidden past.

Vampire Knight ~ Well lots of tragic events but mainly Zero lost his whole family to a vampire and Yuki's hidden past is drenched in blood

Nabari no Ou ~ Yoite and Miharu both have traumatic pasts (though Miharu can't remember his)

Chronicles of the Cursed Sword ~ Ren Yan is an orphan and

survivor of a battle royal

Angel Sanctuary ~ Too many traumas to count but the main character is neglected by his father, denied by his mother and in love with his sister as well as being hunted by angels and demons alike.

Akuma no Ororon ~ Chiaki is a lonely orphan and Ororon the unwilling King of Hell who was hated by his mother and spend his life avoiding assassination. Very good.

Fruits Basket ~ Mass childhood psycological trauma going on here which is the main focus of the story really as well as how each individual characer overcome their trauma.

Ok this is the limit of what I can come up with, Hope it helps.

The pen is mightier than the sword...and considerably easier to write with.
