This week's poll was suggested by our member mallika23. It's the classic time travel question about your own life.

You can submit poll ideas here
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:
Question: What is your favorite pre-2006 planet (except Earth)?
Choices:
Mercury - votes: 75 (3.3%)
Venus - votes: 177 (7.7%)
Mars - votes: 306 (13.3%)
Jupiter - votes: 299 (13%)
Saturn - votes: 491 (21.4%)
Uranus - votes: 199 (8.7%)
Neptune - votes: 228 (9.9%)
Pluto - votes: 520 (22.7%)
There were 2295 total votes.
The poll ended: July 1st, 2023 11:12am PDT

To the person who wondered why I didn't include other dwarf planets: Because I never considered those planets in my lifetime. Too bad

Ahh...there's no way I'd want to go through reliving as a newborn or infant, especially if my past memories are intact. And besides, I was born in another country far from where I'm living now. My birth mom also died from an illness when I was 3, so I definitely don't want to see that. Of course, it'd be different if I had like an all-healing holy magic. ^^

Elementary is the best time to go back to. I can start training to make my body more fit and healthy. I'd redouble my efforts for studying. Back then, even if I didn't study much, I'd get good results. But I was pretty lazy and didn't bother. I'd do just enough to get a passing grade. 🤣

100% college with all the info I have now. There are minor changes I would make here and there in other eras and it might be fun to relive elementary school, but ultimately I like being an adult, lol.

Infant, but only because I need to, to prevent my feet being deformed. (as most peoples feet are, due to modern shoes)
Otherwise, I'd go for elementary school age, to avoid having to re-live the baby stage.
It'd still be a bit of a pain, to re-live childhood, but I'd get to fix a bunch of stuff, and live longer, so...

Toddler. I did some stuff before elementary school that I knew was wrong (had no idea why, just knew it was bad) and it pretty much shaped a large part of myself that I loathe and still struggle with. Curiosity killed the cat is a fair assessment of what happened, but I'd do a lot to prevent the thing that had such deep and long-lasting negative impact on so much of my life.

High school period.. so.. teenage years..

I should not have listened too well to my mom's advice so I won't be a single with no previous relationship experience at all in my 30s.
I should have choose different major for my college so I won't be contemplating everyday why I have to sacrifice my life and personal / family time for other people's.
: " )

Previous relationship experience is not nearly what it's cracked up to be; some call it baggage, and it can cause a relationship to fail. The issue, I'm afraid, lies with us for reasons other than the advice we listened to. This is coming from a guy who's 30 and never been in a relationship.

With that said, if you live in North America (or most western nations), the dating scene is so messed up it's not even funny.

I'm with you on college though... I totally would have done something else and been way ahead in life had I not chosen to do what I did.

Advice for anyone: if you don't know what you want to do in life, don't force yourself to go to college. Get into the workforce and save up money for when you do know what you want to do. Debt is a massive downer.

That might be, or might not be, good advice ...for someone who lives in the US.
In countries where you don't get crippling, if any, debt from going to higher education, you absolutely should do so.

The US is generally quite an exception, in very many ways ...and pretty much none of them good. (why people count it, as a developed/First World country, is beyond me)

I agree, even the experience of getting higher education is a relevant experience to growing as a person, just like working, different hobbies or environment affect each person. On the other hand, masters degree or above are usually very specific, and in some cases redundant formation ... Yet they do open some doors.

Infant / toddler.

I mean some parts might be boring, but after you're one year old almost everyone knows how to communicate, and in the case you've had a good childhood I think it would be great reliving it; spending time with those who are gone ... You'd also have a chance to try all the hobbies you didn't have time to try out. All in all, I'd still try the same career path but I might try another uni degree.

Should have added an option for 'wouldn't want to go back / nothing to change'.

I can't think of anything I would want to go back to change, personally

I live in Canada, didn't know what I wanted to do, but because of the way the government handled my dad's disability, I was looking at either paying half my paycheck to compensate what he was going to lose or going to college.

I went for engineering, because I thought I had an interest in it. Hated it so much I didn't finish the trimester and ended up 6k in debt. It took me years to pay it off when I moved back home, as a working car and insurance is necessary where I live so all my money went to food, phone and transportation.

But, I see your point: in other countries it might make more sense, especially if the population density is high enough you don't need a car to get to work.

Higher education can be delaying the inevitable
spending an extra 5-10yrs in a safe environment doesn't really embolden people to go take risks(carpe diem)
the longer you enjoy safety the less likely you are to take action that could deprive you of it.
There IS wisdom in having a job that pays you well enough that you needn't take survival-based risks
whether your education pathway leads to a well-paying job with vacancies in your area is often not a certainty
some people are fortunate to have parents who saved for their college

I don't think you can cheat The Time Machine
Lots of fictional stories tell us what happens when we get our wish, and we're not happy with that result either.
The road ahead is the only portal to happiness, and it's a lot of work.

I see this view of higher education, as nothing other than a career path, to be rather tragic
...and having parents who save up for collage is, again, mainly just an American thing.
