Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden
I like my manga with lots of hot bishies CHECK
something that has to do with a historical setting. CHECK
gender bender CHECK
and has something like reincarnation, timetravel, CHECK
or just the setting in a different time period that would be great! CHECK

Time travel from a different time period (1920s) XD

How has no one mentioned this one?!
Also Fushigi Yuugi, but Genbu Kaiden is better.

~Supreme: My favorite, it has fantasy and the style is that elegant type of style that's just like the bride of the water god (You have a bride of the water god icon thing, so I'm assuming your a fan, but if you haven't read it, it's really really good.) supreme has some fighting but mostly is centered around a forbidden love between hero and demon lord ;D

Supreme? you mean Superior?

Oops your right XD
YES Someone who knows that manga 😉

I think the Fushigi Yuugi fans feel (know?) that Watase Yuu screwed up the series when she extended Fushigi Yuugi, and Miaka can be annoying, and when it becomes Miaka and Tamahome is even worse. I think that last addition with Mayo added sounded like Mary Sue fanfiction, and I only read a translation script/extended summary.

Anyhow, I noticed that Merupuri hasn't been mentioned. Aram is good to look at whether he's young or older. His brother is not to bad looking, plus some side characters. 😀 😎

Organ is a nice oneshot. There aren't any bishies, but this is really touching!

Chrno Crusade is set in the 1920s and there are demons. I suppose Chrno would be your bishie. There's also romance.

Both are a bit tear-jerking and those are all I can think of at the moment...

Even from the comments and the summary I can't tell if that manga is actually a Historical. Somebody labelled it as Historical for the genre, but I read the comments and there is no mention of time travelling. So I guess the 'historical' aspect is the male lead (where it's like where Leopold, in the movie Kate and Leopold, went into present day time)? 😐

I can't remember if ahoaho bothers much with shoujo, and so he's read the series and can see why there's the 'historical' label, but I don't automatically see/understand it being a 'historical romance' on its series page. 😐

Anatolia Story/Red River is really good, you should try it. It fits your criteria too. And maybe Basara too.

Haruka: Beyond the stream of time
Hanatsukihime - it's not historical, but it has a desert/egypt-like feel enough that you might like it. =)

From Far Away is rather good, if a little too goody-goody and fluffy for my tastes. Not to mention the ending is probably one of the most corny I have ever read.

Some chapters are also set during the ninja/samurai era (like the currently scanlated arc) so there's a decent amount of historical stuff too.

manwha/mythical history:
Bell Princess
The Bride of the Water God

Late 18th/early 19th century
Hadashi de Bara wo Fume
(ok, it's not great, but it's on par with the other stuff being rec'd)

seinen, but the art's stunning:
Emma
Otoyomegatari
