New Poll - Turn for the Worse
Sorry, almost forgot about the weekly site poll due to the holidays... This week's poll comes from scsijon, and it's sort of related to last week's poll. The choices are a bit wordy, but you get the drift. Imagine you start a series and like where it's going. Then suddenly there's a huge twist and you hate the direction it's going in. Do you continue with the series?

You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related)
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:
Question: For a really long, ongoing series, you prefer to
Choices:
Keep reading since you're already so invested - votes: 2827 (27.3%)
Keep reading as long it's good - votes: 4607 (44.5%)
After a certain point, just stop and wait for it to finish then read the entire thing at once - votes: 2503 (24.2%)
Just give up reading after a certain point - votes: 426 (4.1%)
There were 10363 total votes.
The poll ended: December 27th 2014

Some series never seem to end... I'm look at you, Bleach and One Piece.

I ended up reading Rah Xephon volume 3, which is probably one of the absolute worst volumes of any manga I've ever read, so I guess I file in the first option.

If it's a Ongoing one and I'm currently up to date with it, then I “ Continue but stop reading if it gets any worse â€...and if it's a Ongoing one which I've started(e.g. I'm in halfway) or a Finished one, I “ Pause and wait or research what happens later to judge if should continue reading â€...

That's how I play it ~

ya...Bleach and One Piece certainly are one of the OMG so long ones...but, you forgot to mention more longer Detective Conan and Hajime No Ippo...Bleach should end with this ark though or it will be Axed soon enough...Tite sensei is just dragging it...and Fairy Tail is catching up ~!^^

Depends on how much I liked the series before and how much time I've spent on it already. Usually I would continue reading it for a while, unless it gets even worse.

I tend to drop monthly series rather than weekly ones, because it's a bother to keep up with the plot if I'm not that interested anymore anyway.

This first thing that popped into my mind was Fuuka lol.

Most of the time I continue reading, but I'm getting really bad at following things recently so I'll stop reading it for a while then continue later when I remember.

Pause and research, usually by reading comments and reviews here on MU smile If it seems like the change is not that bad, or the manga gets better later, I come back and read the rest. And if not, I continue to read the comments to find out what happens next.

If a manga pulls a Chisa x Pon(i really picked a bad one) or something equality i will be willing to see the fallout for 1 or 2 chapters but i have become good at spotting lazy garbage so it will be dropped like a stone very fast. What i will do is look at the last chapter to see if i can guess the ending(with about 95% accuracy).
Same goes for animes, tv shows and so on. Hello Homeland.
This is the up to date enough long runner list by the way:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_manga_series_by_volume_c ount
Bleach in No. 41. So nothing special.

Is it basically the same question as last poll question? Mangaka can expand, extend, twist, deepen, or do anything to the story in their manga, as long as I as a reader still find them interesting, I will keep reading.

Yeah...Bleach is indeed way down to No. 41...So, it's a anytime kick ready one...haha

But, you gotta always remember that, Not all the manga...No...actually most of the manga on that list, above and below, doesn't have any English Translation, official or un-official/Fan Made...^^

No. 08 Nijitte Monogatari is lol worthy. It is basically Lone Wolf and Cub the porno.
Not a joke and is related to our topic. It changed the lead early on and went from a historical police manga to borderline-h on a crazy level but lasted so long because of that i guess.
Edit: Oh my god i just read it got a sequel. Yes even more ninja harem sex orgys. I now need to "read" it too. Lol. The things i know laugh .

If it gets any worse or doesn't improve, dropped.

I'd stick with it for a while longer and then drop it if it doesn't get better soon. That's what happened with Kuroko no Basuke, and will probably happen soon with Magi. I've followed the latter for a few years, so it's not as easy to just forget about it, but I can only read so much of something that I don't find interesting or exciting anymore. In the first place, I only start reading if the description appeals to me and makes me think it has something to offer. I don't appreciate deceptive descriptions and deceptive intro chapters. I really should go to a world where all the mangaka only produce works that suit my tastes, or else I'll soon have nothing to read sad Maybe I should pick up writing instead laugh

I WILL FINISH IT!! D<
There's a reason I'm still reading things like Bleach, though my eyes seem to bleed every time I do.. >.>;;

It varies, if it's still ongoing and will probably go on for a while I just stop (Bleach and the Oogure Ito stuff, I still wonder why I even started reading the stuff). If it's finished and there isn't much left I finish reading.

Wolf Guy... Urgh... The first few chapters were so good! And then it started going in a direction I did not ecpect. When it was finished I checked the forums, and I was soo glad I stopped reading it.

It's a choice between the two middle ones but I accidentally voted the first choice without reading the others since I did that recently with one manga (fresh in my mind). There's just so much manga that it's not worth it to finish the ones that suck. I used to keep up but honestly that is an impossible and irrational feat (why suffer when there are better stories out there to read in that time).

After punting up a negative review on Fairy Tail i was curious what the community though and went back today. I was not the odd man out it seems. So i learned that drop of points for people are misused sexual violence(me too), incest(can sometimes work) and either running in circles storytelling(me too) or an increase in ecchi element(just write porn) if no more story idea come after looking at other "fell out of love" manga.
So i am not that weird after all. I expected more traffic for the poll. The topic is good IMHO.
