Mistake in last chapter
(7 posts, 1856 views) Posted: 806d 8h, 18m ago by geowrian in Naruto
Quote from Azula
Not a mistake.

Kiba was really referring to Naruto (the 7th Hokage) stepping down. He was trying to impress the lady sitting beside him, using Akamaru (his now OLD dog) as a comedy failed way to get some kind of confirmation it was false.

In sh ...

I read the novel ending as well and he doesn't end up with anybody really. He loves his imouto and has a mock wedding. Then he takes back the "engagement ring" since it wasn't real, and they end up a ...
New Poll - Starting Age
(47 posts, 5594 views) Posted: 1407d 10h, 54m ago by geowrian in News
While this is an interesting question, I would like to see a question about how long ago somebody started reading manga. For instance, if the majority of the site's users are <=18 years old, then the vast majority of first time manga experiences is going to w ...
New Poll - Scanlation Ethics
(80 posts, 13461 views) Posted: 1596d 3h, 32m ago by geowrian in News
I don't want to summarize or restate what everybody else has already done above me, so don't take this as my entire argument. I would say it is not morally wrong as long as it is worth paying the price they charge. If it's not legally available (als ...

1) Being "proficient", as you claimed in your initial comment in response to the poll, generally requires knowing how to at least read the language. See "...I guess the typical meaning would be that you can more or less read, speak, and listen..." ...

Please don't be passive aggressive with me ("I'm sorry that you can't...").

Your comment is a response to the current poll. The current poll asks "How many languages do you know proficiently?". You answered " ...

I'm going with (b) for most of it. Of coarse (a) and (c) will be in there too, but I think there's a lot of people who either didn't notice the word "proficiently" or think knowing how to make a simple sentence qualifies as proficient. I took 4 ...

Say what? Hiragana is a part of kana. Kana is composed of Katakana and Hiragana. You can start with either, but usually both are covered completely before the first semester ends. I hate to say this, but did you read the word "proficiently" in the ques ...

Where did you learn Japanese? I'm just asking because usually kana is the very first thing taught/learned. It would be very unusual to be "proficient" in Japanese without have a firm grasp on the kana or at least around 2,000 of the most commo ...

I hate to say it, but I agree. They put out pretty poor quality releases, and are slow at doing so. The fact that a small group of users can do it incredibly faster and do it better in the process, for no profit, is crazy. Maybe they think people will flock to their releases now ...

Nah, I mostly liked the ending. It didn't close out everything fully, but it dealt with most of the issues (albeit some of them were rushed). I wish they would have ...
New Poll - Live-Action Hollywood Adaptation
(12 posts, 795 views) Posted: 2072d 11h, 14m ago by geowrian in News
Depends on the type of anime. Death Note worked pretty well with a live action adaptation. Besides the shinigami, everything was pretty much just normal acting. Anime like Bleach don't work as well in live-action - it has to be all CG , cheesy, etc. It's a v ...

You are correct, but the regulation bans the purchase, sale, or distribution without going through the same processes as "adult" literature. This essentially prevents their sale in mainstream stores and publishing in most non-adult magazines. Also, it only ...

Yes it is. However, there are very poor ways to say something. Insinuating dishonesty or a lack of knowledge on an opinion question, or calling users "lowly", is a very poor and offending way to put it. He could have just left it the way others have stated ...

Very well said. Something is *usually* better than nothing when it comes to scanlations.

On average, I would much rather a scanlation group's translation over a publisher's translation. Both could be "good" - their goals are usually different. ...

That's a pretty insulting way to ...
