My first extreme revenge manga
by Raiden94

It is an enjoyable read for me because
I read it without any expectation and does not know anything about revenge trope at that time.
The violence and gore part were quite mild compare to other worst manga I have read.
Nevertheless, I would have prefer if it would end like Life instead of Kangoku Jikken.
The best revenge is you improve, toughen up and own yourself instead of succumb to your emotion completely.

The premise is what might sell you on this manga, hovewer, the closer to the end, the more unsatisfying it becomes.

It had a good premise, but...

Ayana was a good main character. Her classmates are pretty horrible, plus i was intrigued if she was going to go through a change of heart by the end.
The problem with the story is that it's so fast paced. Since it's really fast paced, the big reveals just seem too ridiculous.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Yuuya, the closed-eyed model student guy, being the real mastermind??? That was literally out of the blue. We as an audience weren't given any hints that might make us feel that he was the bad guy. Ren was also "redeemed" by the end, but...that guy's a rapist. Like, no.
They even had this little moment before the whole action took place, where he and Ayana have a heart-to-heart about what she feels for him (in which she basically says she doesn't want him to die despite the fact that he RAPED her, and that she'd save Miho because she thinks he likes Miho. But he doesn't, he likes Ayana.
...This is seriously messed up. It isn't funny, and the narrative tries to write him as if we've forgiven him & he's a good guy...but he's not. He himself knows that, and he wanted to kill himself.
I'm not saying he should, because of course he shouldn't, but if even this horrible character knows his sins, why doesn't the author??

Also, I felt that Ryou was kind of forgotten by the story, in a sense? His and Ren's fight was hyped up so much that when they actually met, it was insanely
anticlimatic and boring.
I liked the part of the ending, where Ayana realizes the futility of her revenge by understanding that sins are just that, sins. By retaliating, she sins also. The whole 'it creates a chain of hatred' was also adressed, which was nice.
The whole part about Yuuya being the real menace COULD work, but the author wasn't able to convey it in a good way. It surprised me, sure, but not in a good way.
So in the end:
- Everyone except Ryou's friends group, Ren, and Ayana dies,
- Ayana is unconscious in the hospital,
- Yuuya is apparently evil
- Miho is apparently not evil & was a true good friend all along (except she did nothing when Ayana was hurt
- Ren was apparently not evil (plot's opinion, not mine)
- Ryou is thrown aside by plot
- Mari was apparently also on a crazed revenge killing spree, just like MC
- Yuuya was the one to orchestrate it
- Ren has a change of heart and wants to repent for his sins, he presumably wants to be with Ayana

The story was interesting in the beginning, but as soon as Emi and Yuuko die, so does MC's rationale. She begins to hurt her classmates worse than they did her, making her question if she's no better than them.
The ending, and by that i mean the last couple pages of the chapter, were actually pretty good. It was an open ending, where Ren confronts Yuuya about his evil deeds (Yuuya's, not Ren's) and Yuuya explains that he was bored. He wanted to not be bored so he did this.
I can't really explain why i love the ending, but Yuuya's explanation is so devoid of feeling, empathy and compassion that it matches the mindset of all the horrible classmates. it illustrates that all the MC's revenge plans were for naught, and that the human mind (in this manga, at least...) is horrible and cruel.
The main character might stay unconscious in a coma, and she might not. Whatever may happen, she's the one who won, though. This way, she'll be able to repent her sins. So in a way, Ren and Ayana did beat the system, in my opinion. Yuuya's plan failed since he still found their drama boring...

The protagonist herself has a very tired characteristics of a snapped person, the plot and how the actions connect was executed pretty poorily and barely just delivered.

I was more interested in the gimmick of seeing how each student gets punished by her revenge than the actual plot or the characters

Now that it's completed I can wholly recommend this manga. In these kinds of manga the ending can make or break the story, if it's too upbeat it can destroy the atmosphere and send the wrong message about revenge, if it's too depressing it can send the wrong message about bullying. There's a delicate balance and the author didn't mess up.

I still have a few complaints, some characters I felt were forgiven too easily, and the plot twists got too convoluted near the end, turning a simple bullying revenge story into some huge mastermind plot where some background character turns out to be behind everything. No matter how accurately you can read people you can't predict what everybody is going to do all the time, it's pure fantasy. Also the tipping point that sealed the 'BAD END' was too obvious. But overall it was worth the read.

Dark Desert

This story has to be one of the best dark, ambient stories that I've read in a while. This reminds to be a lot of Ayakashia's Secret, where revenge is the main plot of the story. The fact that this story is based on a modern, High School life might of put me off a little bit at the beginning, but soon I really got into the story and it became a masterpiece. The fact that she was only after her revenge to those who did her wrong even to the end rather than have a change of heart in the middle made it that much better. It was edgy the mystery heard you on your toes trying to figure out what was going to happen along with the horror of the gruesome murders as well as the punishment she dwells out as if she was passing out candy made it an "on the edge of your seat, trying to see what's going to happen next" kind of story. I recommend this to those who love a good dark story where does it have to be a hero at the end, or do you even have a hero in the stories to begin with! This is been one of the best horror and mystery stories that I read in a while! It would have been a full rating if there had been a little romance and it, but that's just my taste and opinion.

LOVE THIS SOOO EDGY

I usually like shoujo or shounen types of manga but I LOVE THIS!! Its is very edgy so if you don't like dark stuff and murder...you should stay out of it, but the edginess works well with the revenge plot though.BUT the thing that still gets me is that their.all.in.middle.school wtf but if you look over that fact its really good and if you don't want to see anything too gruesome try reading till chapter 6 (that's when she gets crazy and starts murdering people). You can also try guess who tried to murder her(which brings the also mystery aspect)! I seriously don't like edgy anime though the only ones that i stuck though is Tokyo Ghoul and this one is another one going on my list the revenge plot may seem overrated and death-notish (just with better artstyle: that's what i think)It will not fail to please you However who knows still waiting for chapter 19 *hint hint but i really recommend this to people who read manga before because this might be too much for newcomers (btw made a account just to write a review)

btw this made me come to love edgy anime and manga

edit: i don't know why I said death-notish i don't think i watched death note at that time so sorry... i was a messed up kid...

It's not the best in the world...

Artwork: meh. Nothing to brag about. Although I do have to admit that it's poor line characteristics and even the sloppiness of the artwork gets emotion across, so that's entirely not a terrible thing. I guess in some way, it represents the depth of madness that Ayane is descending to.

Plot: it's okay. Though it's a very typical gory revenge plot, Ayane's execution for each revenge is extremely personal and the variation of her victims death is not a total bore. I honestly can't determine what I actually like about this manga, only that I just want to quickly find out how she ends each and every one of them...and that's basically it. This is not a build-character kind of manga, more of a de-build-character (lol, I dunno if that's even a word) kind of plot. I think it's kind of boring and also, I don't think it's really worth too much attention considering how long it takes for a chapter to come out. There are other better revenge stories out there; this one is literally just a straight-shot (personally, I think) and no memorable twist of any kind.

Hilarious

Please don't read this manga straight. Almost all the characters are rotten and the edge here can probably cut diamonds. Ayana has a really terrible circumstance, and I'm sure there are people who have dealt with even worse situations growing up. However, there is little reason for this world to be immersive. These people are 14-15 year olds, yet we have people who act like veteran yakuza, and have characters able to have perfect surveillance techniques for months. Although we are constantly reminded how terrible Ayana's abusers are, Ayana far exceeds them in her acts.

If you wish to read this manga, read it only to see how absurdly over-the-top the events are. I found myself laughing my ass off from the first chapter, and didn't stop until it was over. Maybe that makes me a terrible person (probably not as bad as Ayana) but it is quite enjoyable when seen through that lens.
