this is really good, well-paced, full of quiet (and quite possesive) love. excellent read, wonderful characters. a jem for any passionate lovers of older uke/younger seme dynamics.

.. and that mostly has to do with the fact that the pacing improved once the mangaka got a better hang of locking down a rhythm for the story, allowing it to flow more smoothly. First volume was more concerned with establishing the setting and background for the characters than actually writing a story with natural and decently paced development, not to mention all the melodrama. It definitely got dragged on at certain parts that should've been more condensed, while other parts were kind of confusing and unclear of what's being implied, hence losing interest from readers to continue reading. I also prefer Kouta's characterisation in the second volume as he's become grown up and less immature by then. At the end of the day I wouldn't say it was a terrible read because I did take a liking to all the characters in varying degrees, and the doggo was absolutely adorable. The art does play a part in that of course.
good but vague

i think i know what the previous commenter was talking about. i read this all in one go so i can see where a reader would lose interest in between waiting for chapters.
the storytelling is all over the place. there's good characters, solid(ish) plot and nice art but the pacing and flow needs work. Makoto has this trauma and guilt surrounding the death of his father but we aren't exactly told what it is? just that he has it and is having a hard time dealing with his relationship as a result. it's frustrating. i feel like all the more heartfelt scenes that would have kept readers attached were cut out and skipped over, like
that being said, the characters really built this story. i love makoto's friend from college. i wish there was more on terashima-san...his story was also very vague (what is he to makoto? a father figure? past crush? was he in love with makoto's dad?) like i said before, crucial scenes are missing!!!

You know, I kept following this but with every new chapter I realised I'd forgotten what happened earlier only to recall that yeah, I don't really care actually. Somehow I really like the characters and the art is superb! But the story is just halfassed somehow and although I really liked it in the beginning it's just so watered down. Felt like it kept going in circles just for the story to drag out. It would have made a perfect 2-3 chapter story but it's 2 volumes and I really don't gave a damn about what was going on by the end. That's not a good thing.
Some people might feel like this kinda thing is straight up their alley but to me this is just so boring and after every new chapter I asked myself why I kept reading this.
