This is probably my favorite yokai school comedy. There are a ton of characters, and yet, each of them is memorable (even if you were to strip away their yokai aspects). I've reread the series 6 times now, and every time, I notice a new joke or detail in the background that I didn't see before. The plot is a little weak, but no one's reading this for plot. The character interactions and development more than make up for it.

The one downside is that this is licensed by Yen Press, and they are notoriously slow. I really hope this becomes more popular so they are incentivized to catch up to Japan faster and translate the spinoff!

While the overall plot and general youkai characterizations and premises are WAAAY overused (abe no seimei, really?), but the manga and characters have the kind of self-awareness of the ridiculousness that's hilarious. Some of the slapstick and cliches, while you can see them coming from a mile away, never cease to be surprisingly funny. While frankly, the mangaka sucks at doing drama, but the crack is 100% gold.
