Sci-Fi Xianxia. Spaceships of various sizes. Mechs piloted by cultivators custom designed to amplify their powers. Skyfire Avenue is a kind of neutral ground for high powered cultivators in the middle of space politics.

The MC, Lan Jue, built up an awesome reputation as a mercernary under the alias Zeus. After his girl Hera died he settled down at Skyfire Avenue selling jewels. However, shop owners have responsibilities for Skyfire Avenue to maintain it's calm among so many powerful forces.

Rough start to enjoying this story. Bad first 15 chapters. Author over focuses on describing things so that they overshadow the characters. TLDR Skyfire Avenue is the fanciest elitist place ever. Next 5 chapters aren't great for different reasons. If you can skim on through that bad beginning then it starts to resemble the interesting Sci-Fi Xianxia described at the top.

There's way too many things going on in the plot that it seems the author can't even keep track of what's going on -- often relying on very random cuts to minor characters no one really cares about. The worst part is definitely the pacing where the author seems to lose track of all the moving parts and dedicates enormous amounts of "screen time" to very minor events that plainly stated aren't very interesting, and unfortunately I read xianxia for interesting content.

If the story was a bit more focused and the author fleshed out arcs more rather than keep throwing in new, unresolved (or unsatisfactorily resolved) ones I think it'd be a much stronger story but as of right now with ~175 chapters it's slightly above average at best.

You might get hooked.

I have been using this page for quite some time now, without registration. Actually I registered to submit this rating for this novel.
It is not your typical novel. If you are looking for classic cycle: meet someone stronger, get owned but survive, lvl up, own everyone, rinse and repeat until it gets boring, do not read.
If you are looking for a piece of work that has slow paced but well developed story, that does not focus solely on combat, has well thought world with interesting characters... (well, could have omited the whole satan/pope thingy, but that is matter of taste) Then you have come to the right place.
For once I enjoyed the main character and the whole debauchery theme at the beginning. Hell, it was dozen times more interesting than Chu Feng's umptilionth powerup. True, the characters are quite powerfull right off the bat so for once there is not that much of the train->get stronger->train more theme, but it was refreshing change. Not that I am looking for high level filosofy while browsing through these novels, but it was nice to see an author, that was not afraid of something new.

It took me two tries to get through this one, but after getting through the slow start, I'm hooked. Skyfire Ave is a rather interesting xia in the sense that it's really a lot more like a slice of life at the start. It takes quite a while for the real plot to actually kick in. In the meantime, it's carried by characters, world building, and even some rather hilarious dialogue. I'm also surprised at how polished it sometimes is... for a webnovel. I've read a lot of ridiculously bad stuff in this genre, and let me tell you, it is a HUGE relief to have a competent, adult main character who has goals in life other than constantly powering up and being a compete asshat!
