I liked the art, which was sharp and clean, but that's about the only positive that I took away from this manga. The whole story is an example of an author only telling us certain things about the characters, their backgrounds and what they're feeling... but not showing us. Everything feels disjointed; it's like a badly-edited movie where so many scenes are left on the cutting room floor that the result is jerky and confusing. For example, we're briefly told that Hinaki's had the ring (and therefore presumably knew Sae) since she was a little kid, but none of their interactions are that of two people who've grown up together. Funnily enough we don't even see any scenes of their childhood selves until the very end of the manga, so when I finally realized that they're supposed to have such a "deep bond," I couldn't buy it. It didn't help that we're told from the conversations that Sae's supposed to care for Hinaki, but what I'm seeing is a cold, emotionally repressed guy who has to fend off his overly affectionate fangirl every day. The characters act so inconsistently that they feel like several different personalities mixed into one, and if this wasn't enough, the ending turned out to be one of those "twists" that had zero set up and basically blindsides you. All in all, this left me feeling completely underwhelmed.

it was all downhill from the 2nd chapter or so when you realized that the other male character would be very unlikely to be rewarded at all from the heroine. despite all his efforts, which were far greater than the male lead's, he was pretty much ignored by the heroine but the author still put him in the story for whatever reason and made readers favor him from the beginning. its kind of like reading a story where theres someone who wishes solely for the happiness of the heroine, but the heroine wont ever look his way because she is too obsessed with someone else. add in the fact that that character doesn't show any signs of unhappiness on the outside and you have this story.

whirr, well it's a typical takamiya satoru manga, shoujo manga with a little bit dark background. I still like it. a hanging ending. But still loveable.
