This objectively has issues—romanticization of trauma, falling in love way too easily (and with the first person who's nice), etc etc. But honestly I'm a sucker for these tropes, I can't help it. Like, I would give it an objective 5/10 or maybe even a 4, but if I'm being honest with myself I'll probably re-read it at least a few more times. I'm not proud of myself.

The "magically being okay after a life of rape and abuse" theme is really getting old. The thought of someone finding love for the first time after suffering such abuse is sweet in theory, but the execution almost always results in the abuse being downplayed as if it's nothing more than being yelled at my a parent one time. It's a cute knight in shining armor story, if you like that kind of thing, but I find these stories sad and poorly planned.
