A straightforward shounen manga that focuses on plot with interesting world building

Started like a generic shounen manga, but with interesting world-building. As the story goes on, the plot thickens and becomes more and more unpredictable. Then ... just wow. I could predict some development, but some were just surprising.

This is a straightforward adventure story with interesting world building and lore. There are battles, but it is not that long and the story focuses more on the plot, so the pace is rather quick. Despite the quick pace, it still gives enough depth to the world building.

THIS IS NOT CLAYMORE

I just wanted to leave a positive review from someone who wasn't expecting this to be claymore 2.0.

I really like the balance between action, comedy, and plot in this manga. The dialogue feels natural and the character interactions are witty and usually fit right in with the mood. The art gets better as the series goes on, I don't know why people are knocking it for that, really strange to see.

I also really enjoy the aspect of the main party slowly unraveling the mystery of the world all while meeting and helping new tribes they meet along the way. Action is nice and dynamic when it needs to be, and very easy to understand, which I thought was a weak point of the authors last works. And the main thing that I don't see people give this manga credit for is that it grows up over time and fills out the world building that was so heavy in the first part of the story.

Damn, the Claymore guy really dropped the ball here!

The typical battle-manga you've probably read about in Bakuman: mindless strong protagonist + cute companion an a journey, one enemy after another, more cute (and barely dressed) companions join the team (in a desperate attempt to grab the readers's attention), power-ups, flashbacks...
Problem n° 2 is the art: clean and precise, yet rushed, uninspired and flat to the point none of the characters here seem to have a proper characted design.

Waste of talent if you ask me.

Pretty Boring for a Shounen

The story is about a male who meets a girl. But she's a princess?!?! Well not only that, its an arranged marriage she's avoiding, and she wants to see the world? Whoa. Sounds like a really interesting story with a cast that has any sense of responsibility. The ML's grandpa stole from the military and gave his grandson military goods, the girl is a princess, living off the taxes of her citizens, getting pampered, and suddenly wants to leave once she is told she has to work. A ML who wants to explore and see the world. Nothing really screams original or fun. The author does their best with dialogue, but you can't do much with a cast that feels so childish. It feels like there is no reason for them to be on this adventure. Imagine if your politician got pissed, ran off to get on a survivor show, demands to let them be free after taking your taxes and getting bribed by corporations. I can sort of feel sorry for the enemies. They just want their something in return for their poorly spent taxes.
