Mayumi is a girl who lost her parents in a car accident; unable to deal with the overwhelming sadness, hatred and anger, she wishes only to be able to stop feeling altogether.

Five years later, the now 18-year-old Mayumi's sister is the first victim in a series of bizarre incidents that involve people receiving text messages indicating a certain body part, immediately after which said body part is removed - painlessly and without blood loss - from their body and disappears completely.

Initially, Mayumi's sister's ex-boyfriend, Kanno, is suspected for the crime because the texts were sent from his phone number. Mayumi, however, is reluctant to believe the man who was like an older brother to her is capable of such a heinous act, and vows to discover the truth behind this sudden crime wave, Kanno's ex-girlfriend who killed herself on Christmas Day five years ago, and the highly advanced A.I. that Kanno had been creating at the time: the designing of which has since ground to a halt.

I just finished this, after reading the other works of ANDO Yuki. Although this one was written by YOSHI, the theme was in my range of taste and so I couldn't resist giving it a try. Actually I often have a hard time, when it comes to the description of artificial intelligence (and scientific skills in general) in Manga, but - This time it didn't felt overboard. Why? Because the setting was well developed, just like the characters.

The storyline is serious and scary, while the characters seem human and their behaviour natural. As for the emotions being focused on, they are simply intense. To conclude this comment, the drawings are done nicely & clean, and make this a story worth remembering - or even re-reading some day. ^^

I hate horror movies and manga. They creep the hell out of me, and this did just that. However I simply could not hate it. The characters were not the typical one dimensional manga protagonists, and display very difficult to demonstrate emotion. The tension was constantly at a peak, an the action rarely slowed down. Admittedly I doubt if there were more volumes the author could've kept this up, The drawing style was clean and crisp and overall very pleasant.
I simply cannot read horror stories, and although I was traumatised by this story, I could not stop reading. Sincerely comprehended to those who enjoy a darker read.
