This is a very cute story. The main character is quite quirky, actually. He has his own way of dealing with these strange things that occur around him.
I wish we could read more stories about him.

the stories are heartwarming and funny, the art is very nice with its ephemeral quality. however because there is no true plot and main character, there is something lacking. good short read though, you dont waste your time reading this, but there's not much you can take from it.

Kobatotei Ibun feels like an alternate version of Hyakki Yakoushou, the award-winning series of quite the same premise. Both series are worth reading, but something feels missing from Kobatotei Ibun. It never manages to really establish an atmosphere or make modernized Japanese spirit tales interesting in the way Hyakki Yakoushou or even The Book of Friends does. I tried really hard to enjoy this, but it just didn't live up to the expectations I held from those other excellent Japanese spirit stories.
Cute, but ...

I wish Takano sensei developed the main story more, each chapter was lovely, but overall they lacked depth. It was like reading a string of oneshots rather than a collected volume of stories.
The individual stories in the final chapters were much stronger, but still had an unfinished feel - as if the mangaka was holding back somehow.

The stories are a bit different and actually nice to read but the mystique atmosphere isnt created, in fact in one of the stories didnt even seem to have any supernatural stuff in it but some stuff were never-done-b4 types...I especially like the boy who met a mysterious guy in the library, was I glad that the shonen ai undertones were a mistake! I wish they explored more on the sister and developed a sort of romance around her, romance appeals a lot unless the supernatural content itself is of a superior quality which isnt so here so this needs romance to spice it up and not between that guy and his gate crashing frnd!
interesting!

I love it!
update: I'm sorry... just want to continue talking about my love for this. hahaha. I thought it was hilarious.... except the last few chapters weren't about the main characters anymore. They were separate stories (some have supernatural in it, and some are just normal). I would prefer it if the author continued writing about the main character, Kobato (and his lovely friend,.... Jinrou?) But other than that, I enjoyed this a lot =) and this is the longest comment I've ever given to a manga before. So here you go! I read it again a few more times =P because each chapter is just so short... Ok I'm done!
p.s. Thank you for your attention
