A pretty good series.

Great series, despite what the others might tell you. The nerd rage some folks have about Ch 24 is ... unsettling, to say the least.

It isn't as though the male protagonist din't pull off the exact same thing a few chapters back. It seems ... a bit sexist that a lot of people base their entire judgment of the series based on that sole chapter, ya know? It gives the impression that the readers of this manga are male supremacists and that infidelity is only bad if the guilty party is female. And before you ask: I'm a guy. Sure, it left a bad taste in the mouth to read it, but come on, the mangaka has to stir up some drama in the series, else there wouldn't be anything to read.

Anyway, the series tries to be original, at least. Unlike many other romance mangas where the protagonists have to wangst 3/4 of the series before they hook up, and then needlessly wangst some more after that; Aka and Matsumaru officially pair up fairly early in the manga, and the manga is more focused on the maintainance of their relationship rather than the building of it. The story is (mostly) light and humorous, with a few rather heartwarming scenes here and there. If not for certain ... aspects of the series, it would seem more like a shounen series than a seinen. Infact, the light tone of the series rather reminds me of Mahoraba, and if you're a fan of that manga, you're probably gonna enjoy this one as well.

After reading all these rantings of people droping at the legendary rage chapter 24...I just had to see it for myself so i jumped into it head first.
I put my two sense into this.
Nothing crazy happend really...Its just that the main heroine is...whats the word? An air head? But what do you expect from a seinen/mature. Comapring this to some of the rage i've seen in the past this is like disneychap.
SO basically in a nut shell: chp 24
Spoiler (highlight to view)
The heroin lets herself get stripped naked(no panties,no bra...all gone) ready to be ploughed through by another man whilst regreting it in her head? Why regreat it while letting it happen? Is she a F*&^ng retard/air head combo?

My two sense is that if you are planing to read it, do so and disregard what people say about chp 24 its not so bad. Bad...but its a freaking seinen. Come on.

I didn't like the premise to this when I heard about it. Part of that has to lie with how the japanese label too many people with varied job occupations as Salary Man. I imagined it was going to be about some level worker that got to date a voice actress when she started out. It sounded like the kind of nasty wish fufilment of some otaku comic. But the guy is actually in Marketing, and he gets a promotion at the start of the series.

One problem is the character design of the girl makes her look too young though. She looks 15 instead of 20. Her design seems more cartoony than any other character as well. I think this would have been a better manga is it was a bit more real. The girl is unrealistically emotional to me.

It's a sometimes funny serious. But the manga is surprisingly juvenile. At the start, there was nothing to indicate that the girl would be anything but regular. but then she turns out to be a virgin(before doing it with the guy), and then apparently she's all overly innocent. That's just bad characterization. Then the manga resorts to sex scares instead of any complex feelings or anything.

Manga is sequential art but sometimes the positioning of the panels makes it feel like I'm missing parts of the story. This has happend pretty frequently with this manga, it's odd.

it started as an okay story but after THAT chapter i find it lacking.. i'm not a feminist but i really hate the protaganist female being unfaithful.. (by the damn hell she didn't even resist) if in fact that she attemted to stop it from happening it would be okay but nooo... she just insisted that it didn't happen.. and if by the devil if your yamada would you stop? a beautiful girl in front of you not resisting? i find it simmilar to yeme aetara's situation ch 37-39...

All the hype about chap 24...

Everyone drop after chap 24. Sure, it wasn't a pleasing chapter to the guy's audience, but Aka boyfriend also had some of his awkward moments with females(lots of them) and he doesn't tell her ( (all his encounters) either...

It all balanced out...

As for story, it is mundane and seem to be repetitive after a while...the only reason I am sticking with this is because I am somehow (dunno what word to use) by the lazy style of art form....

i almost dropped the manga after chapter 24, i began to hate Aka and probly will forever, i also do hope that the events with come back up on Aka and mess up her life and her seiyuu life, and i hope that Mastumau gets a better woman other than Aka.

i have to giv this manga a 5/10 because of chapter 24, i read all till chapter 42 and i agree that it is still a cool manga i only HATE Aka so damn much

August, 12, 2011 Edit: Ehh, got over it, but OMG Aka is a f*cking dumb*ss! I know it's sexist, but at least freaking Matsumaru is loyal even when he gets into the ecchi situation. He doesn't openly want to have sex with anyone else.

A different love story with a not so common protagonist

When one of the lead characters is a seiyuu / voiceactress, this manga drew me to it due to it being an uncommon theme.

Reading it has given me some insight to the work of a seiyuu, and the hardships endured as she climbs to the top.

Then it became a staple romance story after the lead joined the ranks of senior seiyuus, and for me, this is a sign that the manga turned for the worse.

Overall, a good read, and since it has not finished or exhausted it's premise, I think it's a recommendable read.

A serious love story this is not, although the different plot devices / a.k.a. new character encounters always ends up being almost sexual, but never really so.

Good, but not great.

Not so good

Spoiler (highlight to view)
It is not about the whole concept of cheating that was disturbing, but more the fact that she does not seem to have learned anything from it nor did she had talk about it with her boyfriend later, but just reverted to her old cheerful attitude as if it was nothing.

That is what I find to be rather disturbing.

Other than that - mediocre manga, with weak characters, dragging plot and overused jokes. Nothing new, nothing good. Mediocre to it's core.

Why the scene is detestable.

She cheated on him. She let that guy sexually fondle her and would have let him go all the way. Afterward, she just goes back to her old cheery self as if nothing had happened. No remorse, no regret, no hatred for herself or the guy. It is like she learned absolutely nothing from the experience. It was as if the whole idea of cheating on her boyfriend didn't phase her.

Unfaithfulness is in the mind as well as physical. I don't care what excuses there are, you just don't cheat on your significant other.

why most people detested the scene

well, i think most people most comment instantly after they read ch24, if they kept reading next chapter, they'll know they didn't do anything at the end. so overall, i don't think its that big of a problem, since nothing happen, which they didn't get up to C, they only did B while skipping A...
