Sad.

I love this story line. It's so sad that it's good. I'm not sure why no one has commented yet. I almost has tears in the corner of my eyes. I know it's been only 4 chapters but it has a sense of reality. The heroine is believable, and pretty strong for a 5 year old. Recommened.

Such a good manga!

This story is absolutely fantastic-- I highly recommend it. The plotline is well made, the characters are supported and very realistic, and Subaru, the protagonist is one of those strong female lead characters that you absolutely cannot dislike. The art is pretty good, and the dancing scenes are especially well drawn out.

The storyline is pretty basic. Essentially, it focuses on how Subaru (the protagonist) is talented in something, and how she achieves and become successful in what she does, which is dancing. However, there are also lots of dramatic components-- the good kind, which really makes the story a lot more interesting and keeps you wanting more.

The only drawbacks of this manga is that it loses its momentum in the later chapters, where the plot starts to jump around all over the place.

I can't sleep

I read this once a couple of years ago, and it has stuck with me. Normally, I forget titles and characters easily, but Subaru has stayed with me, for some reason.
I decided to reread it and now I can't sleep. The intensity of this manga won't leave my mind. Normally sketch-ish mangas aren't my thing, but it just fits. It's like the drawings can't hold the purpose of the scene with perfection, just like Subaru is so incredibly flawed. I love her so much, because there isn't just one layer to her character, but she is so incredibly complex, it astounds me sometimes.
I read somewhere the drawing style is like something out of a horror manga, and I can see why. A lot of the time Subaru has to move on and leave everything behind, and it is terrifying to see her do - at least it is to me.
I just wrote a big bunch of text and I don't feel like I described the manga at all - it's just so... Intense

This manga deserves more views, I cannot fathom how this manga does not have more views, why doesn't this manga have more views? (Life's greatest mystery...)

First off, I hate seinen. I didn't even know this was seinen and the very fact it is throws me off because I've completed reading it and it wasn't like any seinen I have read. Neither was it shoujo/josei, regardless whatever it is, I am immensely glad to have read this, supremely, joyfully, wonderfully glad.

Moving on-

If you love a strong female character that is focused on her dreams; is completely flawed and definitely loveable, you should read this manga.

Also I like the art, it has character.

this is one manga that made me forget about japanese cliches...gawd! sometimes i ask, "is this really a manga?" and that makes this a stunningly beautiful read. the many times i held back my tears and the many times i learn with the protagonist..it's one great read..I RECOMMEND THIS!!

As i think that it's been months since a manga had this great impact that i can't lose this chance to comment, it's not only good. in fact it's one of the bests!!

Subaru is wonderfully complex

This manga captivated me because of Subaru. She's not your simple female character. In fact, she's extremely complex. While reading it, I would spend days thinking about how she felt, and why she said the things she said. Her behaviour was difficult to understand in several occasions. But that complexity drew me in, because more than any other character in any manga, she was human. She was so flawed, and her personality wasn't based on only one characteristic. She was a full person and trying to understand her was like trying to understand a real human. The more time you spend with her, the more you get to understand her.

I stopped halfway through the manga, when I'm fed up with Subaru's indecisiveness
Anyways, for those of u who does not mind that, go ahead and go for it!
You will love her talent, the art style and especially ballet!

Went from good to great to pseudo-scientific BS. It peaked at a solid 8 or 9, but then steadily divorced itself from reason. The last 2 or 3 volumes were very much magical fantasy stuff that soured me to the whole thing.

The way it's told is really good, but there were some serious flaws

I rarely see any story with such intensity and little character development. Like when Subaru met with the guy who resembles Kazama, i thought there could have been some development, but nothing happened. And the fellow Japanese dancer as well, she was shown in only a short time, and has not shown up ever since Subaru went to the US. But above all, i couldn't accept the dance with prisoners. It was absurb! Yet, Subaru's struggle seemed captivating and interesting. But i like it best when she was just a child

Oddly captivating

I can't say that I like this manga particularly, or the characters either... (simply not lovable enough... except possibly Priscilla and Robby? But they hardly get into the limelight long enough for me to feel much for them...), and I can certainly say I really dislike the art (extremely sketchy and quite exaggerated... Subaru's, Mana's, and Takako's eyes, for example, are HUGE), but I have to say it's oddly captivating. I started reading this because the movie was cool, and I have to say I struggled for a bit with the first few volumes, but once the story caught hold it drew me in... kinda like how you'd expect Subaru's dance to draw you in, really. You might not exactly enjoy it, you might even feel it's painful, but you can't turn your eyes away.
With that said, I should probably mention Glass Mask. The two mangas are extremely similar in plot, both focusing on a young genius who throws away her old life to do the only thing they feel they could possibly do/live. However, the supporters, romantic relationships, and humour is simply not there. The focus is clearly on Subaru, and Subaru alone. Again, this is like what you'd expect from watching Subaru dance, and therefore probably on purpose. As for the lack of humour... this is serious business, so don't expect a light read. It's josei, not shoujo, after all.
