This really, really wants to be an erotic thriller. Yes, it's riddled with clichés in the first half, but still tolerable for a 2000s yaoi. The gruff detective who doesn't play by the rules, the red herrings in the police force, the questionable attraction between Stanley and Alistair (which I never saw, but OK), the infodumping detective partner etc. The art is actually pretty good; the mangaka knows how to capture that noir feel with intense shading.
...And then the second half arrives, and all of that flips into something absolutely hilarious in how bizarre it is. It doesn't even matter who the serial killer is (they aren't important and their motivation makes zero sense), but Alistair...oh man, Alistair is something else. Suddenly, it's revealed that he has supernatural powers. His personality turns into a discount Joker ripoff. He has a grand speech that rivals the script of The Room.
I can't describe it—you'd have to witness it for yourself how funny this thing is. Of course, that'd mean you'd have to read it, and I don't recommend that to anyone. But props for making me laugh, even if unintentionally.

It seems that Stanley Hawk originally was a novel made by Yamaai Shikiko and it was very popular. At some point they decided to make a manga based on that story. Sadly they gave this job to a newbie and it turned out to be far from perfect. Anyway I still like this manga. The idea is good - I mean murder mystery set in the USA. There are only few works in yaoi genre with a complete investigation, serial killer case and American style characters. Main characters seem a bit cold and tense and that's the biggest problem here. I'd like to see their soft side. I hope it was fixed in other works about Stanley Hawk (there are at last 4 mangas with continuation of this story). If the lack of warm true love was fixed it'd be a great story.
In general it's an interesting detective story, there's more "action" than "yaoi"- if that makes sense. I had fun. You'll like it if you like detectives and mysteries.

Wierd, to say the least. I did not get the characters nor the story really. In the beginning it's a police drama, then it turns Supernatural? like...what? I also didn't feel like they was any attraction or any relationship between the two main characters. One claimed to like the other, but...that's about it.
Confusing, a tad boring, no chemistry between anyone sums it up.
Did not like it....that much.
