Too shallow/rushed

Since I am a huge huge fan of single-father yaoi stories I had to give it a shot.
It has potential but very soon after the beginning already, you see how shallow this story really is.
The development between Natsuki and Satou is way too rushed... they go from meeting to being in love in what feels like a matter of days, and all that even though Satou is clearly straight, not even bi!
But while he at first says "I like Natsuki if it were not for the fact that he's gay that I don't like!" a couple of pages later he already confesses his love and they become a couple.
It has an incredibly shallow feel, the characters are everything but deep as well and any attempts at adding depth by introducing the mother of the boy or Natsuki's father who threw him out for being gay ... they all fail.
I don't feel like Natsuki or Satou actually DID anything at all in his whole manga... it's like they kind of just let the story happen and pass them by.
The only thing I found okay here was actually the subplot about the child, Rin, though none of that was overly deep either!
The art is alright but not all mine because something about the faces just strikes me as odd.
Altogether, I sadly have to say this is one of the worst single-father mangas I've read... I wish there were more to it... some drama that can actually make you feel something, or characters you can fall in love with, or at least a good slice of life story - because come on - single father and gay relationship can make for an amazing story!
Oh yeah, while reading this I kept thinking that I'd much rather read a story of the boys, Kyo-kun and Rintarou and thankfully, the mangaka is actually working on that right now so I'm still having my hopes up for the series.
I'd only recommend it if you love the mangaka, if you are a die-hard single father fan or if you actually look for something very shallow to quickly fly over without putting any thought into.

It has all the amazing ingredients!!! Single father with cute kid *check*, cute younger uke *check*, handsome older seme *check*, adorable kidergarten school moments *check*....
Why isn't this a great manga?
Too rushed and no angst AT ALL!! They are already doing it in chapter 1!! And the sex is way too short! Their relationship feels shallow... I don't know the reason why they love each other, other that they are both attractive and Takahashi-kun loves Satou-san's son.
*big sigh*... this mangaka needs to work on her storytelling skills. Her art is pretty enough but sketchy to me.
Oh I suggest you check out Kodaka Kazuma-sensei's "Ikumen After", it's ongoing but 100x better than this.

Yaoi stories with a single father are my bread and butter, so I was so excited when I saw that this had come out--and all at the same time too!! ...But I was disappointed. Not bitterly disappointed, but disappointed all the same. On the spectrum of single dad yaoi mangas, this one might be my least favorite. I hadn't really run into a disappointing one yet, so I guess there's a first time for everything.
First of all, the characters got together way too quickly. It wasn't believable. Then, there was no development of the characters, it just fell flat. There was something stale and heartless about the story; the mangaka never went deep enough so the characters' pain or happiness didn't succeed in evoking my sympathy.
Basically, this wasn't an eye meltingly horrible read but I definitely won't read it again.

I wanted to like this, I was actually hoping for the whole straight dad falls for gay neighbor thing...
I was looking forward to lots of denial, angst, questioning of one's sexuality etc... Instead what I got was a too fast paced PWP with sex 30 pages into the story....
If you like the gay single dad plot like I do, there are a lot better stories around.
That said, the art was pretty, at least and it had its cute moments.... who can resist a cute chibi kid?

I'm sorry to all the fans of the story out there but this was, plainly, utter failure.
The straight dad fell in love with the cute and cliché university student uke in a nano-second, but I could have looked beyond that if only there was anything closer to chemistry or sexual tension between them. There was not. The sex scenes were absolutely gratuitous, which is to say perfectly uncalled for. But I guess you can only hope so much from two main characters who are so poorly developed they could only fit together in a ridiculously shallow relationship.
And don't get me started on how SEXIST the whole thing was. I mean, I understand female writers and female readers feel more at ease with the mama/daddy roles, much like they enjoy the (non-realistic) uke and seme ones. But give me a freaking break here. The dad bluntly said he should protect the family because "he is the dad after all" as if it was the mother's place to cook and look cute all the time. And while we're at it, isn't Takahashi a college student? He should be studying then, not improving his cooking.
Oh and of course the son is also gay...
There's just no depth or credibility to either the characters or the plot. Plus, the art is not that appealing either. Ugg.

The relationship between Satou-san and Takahashi is a little rushed but if you overlook it then the story is great! It's refreshing, and I don't know if it's realistic or not but it's too cute<3

While it IS true that this story was very rushed, I felt that after the first chapter their relationship began to progress more naturaly. I'm not going to lie and say that there were many things that needed to be "deeper", I felt that the main issue was in the first chapter and I loved the rest of this manga.

i love kitazawa sensei's works and single-father plots alot. i enjoyed the story where they actually tackled somewhat realistic matters and problems. but i wasn't too into the characters. haha this is more of a personal preference of how you like your semes and ukes, but Satou was in a way a very selfish and rash character and he just didn't look cool in my eyes (i like my semes cool). Also Takahashi was too doting on Satou, he would give into all his demands. He was definitely very cute, but he just followed Satou around thoughtlessly. The character development in this just wasn't my cup of tea.
