Being a teenager is never easy. Especially for a centaur! Himeno is a sweet, shy girl, who like many teens her age, struggles with the trials and tribulations of attending high school. The difference is she's a centaur; but she's not alone. In fact, all of her classmates are supernatural creatures, sporting either horns, wings, tails, halos, or some other unearthly body appendage. Yet despite their fantastical natures, Himeno and her best friends—the dragon-winged Nozomi, and Kyoko with her spiraled horns—are down-to-earth, fun- loving teenagers who grapple with issues of life and love ...

Friend recommended it, seems nicer than the other monster girl reads available (what, with no harem or focus on fetish things and such), and is a pleasant, easy read for the most part (though gets a bit awkward at times, ha ha) but I did feel like it was missing some things, like maybe the staple elf or something. Speaking of...
@ Shengar
That's very obnoxious and unhelpful and for the record, Tolkien didn't even create elves or dwarves (and no one even likes orcs) as they've been around in lore long before Tolkien "popularized" them, and most of the time, people don't even characterize elves very well in media anyway. They're still fantastic and amazing creatures despite your distorted, inaccurate, and much unneeded opinion that sounds like it's spoiled with Greek/Roman/Babylon and other overrated and over-appreciated crap (what's next? Dragons and serpents are 'overused' and cliché despite being a fantasy staple? Centaurs are suddenly original despite Monster Musume's popularization? give me a break...). Elves would be FAR better than your presented case...
Yeah, sorry that was responding to an old post... but I just had to say something about that ignorance and lack of appreciation. Anyway, good read. Check it out if you've got the time~!

Notoriously cute monster girl manga, but the author somehow blend in a mix of seinen and gekiga into this. For all goodnesses I think they are not to be taken seriously. The story line is not going to resolve any of your political issues that you are looking for, simply because it is not there.
"Overcoming" rasism or smacking democracy in the face?

1. It actually is erotic here and there. "Erotizing" kindergardeners happens in the late chapters, though it's rather a minor issue and you might not even see it. But hentai is something way more pornographic than that, I must say for teh great justice.
2. It does deal with racism, homosexualism and democratic features in the society. But if you look just a bit closer, it depicts the huge and awful flaws of the centaur-world democracy. Be attentive and you'll see just how ironical (and even sarcastic) their "overcoming" is. There are also hidden gloomy secrets of the depicted civilisation.
Actually, that's the only point why you should read it, and it would be a priceless manga if it didn't go all slice-of-lifey, cute and aww-centaur-breasts-oww-lesbian-unicorn in half of the chapters. I pretty much hope the author actually starts dealing with the civilisation problems and social issues - or, at the very least, gives us more picture of Serpentines daily life.

Charming series about overcoming racism

Geez, those who compared this series to a hentai must not have read beyond two chapters.
The first chapter is indeed a bit shocking, as the author may not have fully decided yet what the tone of the series should be. However, the tone becomes considerably tamer right after, and what we're left is a charming series about friends and family, set in a multi-racial world that has overcome most prejudices and is working on overcoming more. You discover this world little by little through its news and legislation, its history (previously filled with racism) and stories. I chuckled in particular at a fairy tale that Hime reads to her little sister, where after the hero destroys the evil wizard, he writes a constitution, and everybody lived happily ever after under a fair democracy. This is a world where people have wondered if their history would have been less violent if they were not all so different.
This theme about overcoming racism is further explored when a representative of the little-known reptilian race gets sent to the school. They quickly clear up misconceptions about one another and learn to get along despite their huge cultural differences. Outside this little town, however, not everything is so harmonious, so we discover the ongoing issues and efforts in the politics overseas.
Most of the series focuses on the characters' everyday lives, however, as they meet up with friends and take care of their family. It is a charming little series where their differences make their lives more interesting instead of creating conflict.

I randomly discovered and speed read this "thing" here and have now seen everything it seems. I am even at a loss for words but one question remains: Where are the hentai elements coming from?
The kinder gardeners get sexualized like crazy and the high school girls leZ randomly out just cause teens do stuff like that i guess. The author further only possesses limited knowledge about animals, especially horses (i can ride a horse to clarify) and similar quadrupedal animals. What you see here on the page is quickly researched internet knowledge, very random world-rules and nothing more. Thanks to this mange i now also know that a fully developed hentai sub-genre of centaur-porn exists and i am not sure that i like this knowledge.
I dread the day when this manga starts to go to porno-town for real and am thus gone. Read Brandon Shane´s erotic webcomic The Monster under the bed (8/10) if you want to see monster girls for adults done right or the Eisner winning Saga (10/10) as i am currently incapable of recommending such works form the east. Ja Ja Uma Grooming UP! (8,5/10) has tons of farm animals, a bit of actual sex and no mock bestially so go with that i guess?

I recommend this as a great alternative to Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou. While I liked Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou, I can see where the entire monster girl fetish might freak some readers out.
This manga is good for a light read while managing to address heaving political and race issues without changing the overall emotional tone of the series.

This is actually a give fresh breath to both fantasy and slice of life genre. We know how fantasies these just get ridiculed by elves (dark elf, wood elf, snow elf. Whats next? desert elf?), orcs, dwarves, and many much Tolkien-esque(its not that his works are bad, it just overused >__>). While slice of life is just filled with your ordinary (and some of them predictably turn into extra-ordinary) school life.
Not what this manga about? This manga is about what if fantastical races (no elves. Jolly goodness because they're no longer fantastic) replace in this world? Most of the story tell us daily life of highschool (monster)girl. Ordinary? No, because this was told from their viewpoint. It told us their custom, law even history! All in all, this is pretty interesting manga if you get tired from cliche'd fantasy and SoL

@Saons
Pfft, try actually reading past the first chapter. You seem to have gotten the wrong impression, the series is not even about the idea of "a centaur coming to terms with sexuality" at all. The "fondling a friend's genitals" part was just a bit of fanservice reflecting this series' slight "girls' love" inclinations; the actual content matter of the story is about the existence of this kind of world (where beings like centaurs, angels, satyrs, etc. not only exist but lead civilized lives).

This is a very cute and lighthearted manga about monster people, centering around a centaur girl & her two friends. The interesting thing about this is that it inserts a lot of (realistic) technicalities that each species has to deal with.

At first I thought this would be a really cute little story, but nope, it's just plain creepy. I thought that the idea of a centaur coming to terms with sexuality might be an interesting idea, but...
Therefore, I would almost consider this a hentai. Just some warning.
Still, though, it's just bizarre in entirety and not good in the slightest. There's no merit to it.

Fondling your friend's privates? I mean... okay, there's sexual curiosity and then there's just... hentai fetishes, which is what I believe was behind this.
