Maybe my expectations were too high?

But the story stank! It displayed all the characteristics of immature storytelling. Overly iconoclastic premise, unnecessarily bipolar traits assigned to the lead just to make her interesting and what was all that tosh with her nickname?! It made the entire story sound far too lame. I couldn't take anything seriously when a school full of delinquent type boys were labeling this sweet but oddly talented girl by that moniker. Also the romance between the leads is very haphazardly developed.

The oneshot is OK, nothing groundbreaking, maybe a wee bit shallow even? Art was a saving grace, but how much can a volume coast on art and bishie elegance alone?

Physical strength can be read on some manga.
And being the only female in the entire school is unique yet it's
exaggerated.. doesn't work for me.

The art was good, the overall storyline was very original, and the relationship was fun and cute. But if I had to pin down exactly where this manga disappointed me it was probably the characters themselves. There just wasn't enough dimension to them. There was the typical hard-working, happy-go-lucky female lead.

And admittedly, yes, she does go into "killer mode". But that version of her was pretty much one-dimensional. To me, it just seemed like a cop-out to make her character appear more interesting. It didn't work.

Then there was the violent guy who is only gentle around his girl. As I recall, the only extra quality he received from the manga-ka was

his inhuman strength, and even that was only showcased a couple of times.

I understand it was a short series, but there could have been a bit more effort into making the characters better. From what I've seen, simple things like little under-the-breath side comments can add a lot of personality.

As for the included oneshot, I liked it slightly more, but had similar issues.

That girl is too sappy for my taste. Too smiley and too much blushing. This manga is seriously corny, but I guess it's not that bad. It's an okay read if you have nothing else to do.

I think the plot is fine, but after reading chapter one, I feel like this is a remake of Beast Master.. I don't know, it's just my opinion. none

However, I'm gonna give it a try..

it's a very short (3.5 chapters) and leaves a person wanting to read more. You almost feel bad for the guy.

(if it was possible, i would also add to recommend asuko march, which was made into a jdrama...it's sorta similar)

finally, a female lead who's mentally strong as well as physically. i've only read one chapter so far, but this manga looks seriously cute! all the characters seem really likeable and i can't wait to see where they go with the "killer machine" smile
