A cute and sweet FMC, handsome and possesive MMC, detective/supernatural background... It was a good mix of sweet and interesting characters and story. Sometimes it was a bit too sugary for me, but nothing too unbearable.

Is this an actual story or a wet dream magazine spread?

Update: re-read this story, gave it a 1/10 for the second time. :-)
Why is this rated so highly? People must be feeling thirsty...

This manga is an unfinished, sloppy rough draft. It has all the ingredients, but didn't mix them in a good way. Instead, the mangaka just hastily tossed everything together, creating something that is shallow and one dimensional. If i wanted to look at a detective-themed sexy art book, I'd have done that instead. Author-san shouldn't market this as a manga when there's no story...

If you wanting hot guy + teenage girl posing suggestively page after page, yeah this might be the one.
But if you want substance? Don't waste your time.

the Romance
Every chapter, there's something that would make girls go KYAAAA gleefully. Stuff such as the girl suddenly being pressed to the couch happens within the first few pages of Chapter One. I'm not saying that such a thing is bad, but it's just totally unrealistic. (I'll mention more about this in characters)

From chapter one, the initially unnecessary and totally unrelated to background "romance" suddenly became splattered across the pages with little reasoning behind them. But that's not the worst of it. Given the characters' situations of an adult and a teenager, zero consideration was shown from either side.

Basically, it seemed like the author just wanted to create a cool girl and a cool guy and place them in steamy positions. There was no actual ROMANCE. Just fan-service.

Character
The girl is supposedly a pretty teenager w/ big balls + reasonable foresight/brains.
We are told the main dude is aloof/scheming/alert/young adult. While I love the two combinations, these two's characteristics were never fully explored....

Also, if we were told from the get go that the guy is supposed to be very RESERVED and paranoid as the police officer that he is, WHY would he randomly press the girl into his arms when he was woken up suddenly? Normally, ppl in these professions tell their families not to scare/surprise them physically because their instinctive reaction is disabling the potential attacker. I would've thought that he would just wake up and glare at her, not get in some cringy & rapey position with a pretty stranger.

To be more general, the author totally forgot to consider the two main characters' personalities when setting up "romantic" scenes. It was just ignored.

I don't have much to say for the girl, as she made more sense as a human being, but the dude was totally random--which I doubt was supposed to be part of his personality.

Plot
Mark my words, the individual crime scenes are retarded. No intelligence was required for any chapter, as the main girl was able to use her magic to escape all the complex problems of writing a detective-based story.

In fact, the whole plot is pretty much non-existent. The smaller arcs were just kind of there so that the two characters can flashily sit on one another and act like couples when they clearly have an age gap that should keep them from acting that way in public.

Others
Aside from all the above atrocities, there are actually more negative stuff about this manga.
The ONLY redeeming quality of the manga was its art style. I pretty much read up to chapter 22 just to see the main guy's face.

But, the body anatomy was PREEETTY bad. The guy's head was way too small on that kind of bulking shoulder---it just doesn't look pleasing to me as a portrait artist. (That didn't really bother me though compared to the other stuff.)

There are sexy and well-told stories out there I swear (kimi wa pet is pretty good imo). This one isn't it.

The plot is nice, the art is good, tho it's not really my cup of tea. There are developments in the characters and the mangaka himself. In the beginning, everything about this manga, especially action scenes seemed awkward and stiff, but later on the mangaka really improved and it felt a lot smoother. I really didn't waste my precious senior year time reading this. An 8 for the lovely romance and the great development that kept me reading, tbh, without it, I would have left the manga on hold

The main character is a great, strong female lead, and despite the male lead maybe not falling head over heels in love at first, there are a ton of really romantic, fangirl-worthy moments starting at the first chapter. If you're looking for a feel good romance with a hot, protective male lead, look no further. It's also complete!

Let me start with the things I really enjoyed about this. I love that Fuyuki is not your typical shoujo heroine. She doesn't start crying at the drop of a hat, and she doesn't spend the whole series anguishing over her feelings. But she's also not some hardened adult, and you still see times where her 17-year old self emerges. She doesn't bat an eye at handling brutally murdered corpses, but she's terrified of ghosts. Due to her background, in some ways she's much younger than 17, and in other ways she's much older than 17.

Regarding Kuzi, I love that he is so protective of Fuyuki, and yet he still respects her decisions to help others when it's going to put her in danger. Although he wants to keep her safe, and he at times tries to coddle her due to her age, when the chips are down he relies on her and trusts her to know what she's doing. Once he realizes his feelings for her, he doesn't try to hide them or push her away, although he also doesn't try to force her to accept them due to her young age and him wanting to wait until she's an adult and ready.

I also really enjoy the interaction with the supporting characters, especially the creepy doctor with his internal organs fascination, lol. The humor is great and I had times where I giggled out loud reading this.

Now, on the the negative parts. I wish the stories were a little more fleshed out. It seems that every time a mystery comes up that might become a little harder to be solved, it ends up resolving very tidily and fast instead.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Even the big major unsolved case that had been languishing for 12 years and had been the source of Kuze's guilt and pain ended up being solved very quickly and neatly.
The art is okay. I'm not always a fan of how long and angular the characters faces are drawn, but I got used to it and it stopped being distracting after a while. I really want to see more of Fuyuki's backstory be scanlated, and I hope it will have a little more edginess to it when it gets there, but with only 1 more volume left to be scanlated, I'm not sure how in-depth it will go.

All in all, I'm truly enjoying this series and I really hope it will be fully scanlated soon. Don't expect it to be incredibly deep or dark, despite the subject matter.

I didn't read all the comments but some of them indicated negative reviews on this manga. As Krimson said "not exactly a solid plot" but if you're looking for something "kilig" (yeah, it's a new term look at it in the dictionary) well this manga is definitely for you. Come on, each of us has different taste when it comes to food same goes to manga. I didn't thought that this manga could get some negative review but you know what I just love it, i love how their romance progress. Reviews may help in finding a new manga to read but reading it by yourself could make things clear whether you like it or not. Overall, i rated it 10 and hope this manga updates soon cuz its almost 2 years.

For Those That Want to Read It and Those Who Read It

I like this manga and I like this author. Moving on from that, as has been pointed out, there are several comments that hate on this manga. Therefore, I want to give you a better understand of what kind of manga this is so that you don't hate on it just because you read the description or whatever and had a misconception of how this manga was gonna be like. I also got some spoilers in item 3 so I think that's more for people who are already into the story.

1. Not a Serious Story with a Heavy and Complex Plot
Like @blackluna said, this is a light hearted story with fan service. Just because it has detectives it doesn't mean that it has to be some deep complex thing. Personally, I disagree with the "Psychological" genre on this. I don't really think this is psychological at all. Although it does have some serious aspects here and there (like the murders of children), this is still not really that serious of a story overall.

2. Age Gap and Romance
There is an age gap of 9 years between the guy and the girl. If that isn't your cup of tea, I guess we are done here. Also, I see a lot of people complaining about the romance in this so let me tell you something. This is NOT like those school life shoujo you find everywhere where the focus is to show you how the relationship between the girl and guy develops at every step of the way. This is a more fluent story where the relationship at the start is one more similar to brother/sister and then, by the time both characters realize, they're already in love. Some people don't like that the characters don't have an explicit reason reason as to why they like each other and others don't like how they are suddenly in love with each other. Yet, in my opinion, it was well done. I think it was very natural for them to suddenly find themselves liking the other without having to go through 10 chapters with their hearts racing while not understanding they were in love.

3. May Contain SPOILERS: In response to other things I've seen commented.
a) How Kuze Treats Fuyuki

I saw on the comments regarding how Kuze treats Fuyuki (the fan service and how kind he is to her). I don't think it's wrong to think that Kuze was reminded of his little sister when he first saw Fuyuki and therefore treated her kindly. Eventually, he shifts those feelings of brotherly care to love for her. Furthermore, regarding how Fuyuki and Kuze meet, it's true that they might've met that way simply cause the author wanted some fan service in there but I also think Kuze knew that Fuyuki wasn't someone he needed to treat roughly(with handcuffs etc.) so he didn't and instead just pulled her towards him. For all the other times he pulls Fuyuki while sleepy, I'm 100% he only pulls her cause he knows it's her. He wouldn't pull any of the guys in the police department if they approached him while he was sleeping.

b)The Plot

Like stated before, this is a mostly a lighthearted story. Not a serious one. However, this does have a plot. It just takes time and it's given in pieces. It's not like everything is going to come when Fuyuki and Kuze meet. The things that need to be brought up will be brought up when the time is right. Rushing on the important things wouldn't be good. Therefore, the pacing of the story is good. Yeah, the police cases are pretty average (this aint CSI Miami or something like that) but they are all important in my opinion. They show how Fuyuki and Kuze grow closer and closer with them eventually completely trusting the other. SPOILER of GOLD: It's not like Kuze would be like "hey my 5 year old little sister was murdered 12 years ago" right at the beginning of the manga. That kind of stuff takes time. Also that matter with the sister gets resolved quickly and the murderer might be kind of disappointing but in my opinion he needed to be that way so that Kuze could let go and move on peacefully. Had it been some crazy degenerate then things wouldn't have been resolved so nicely. So, yes, the plot is well done. (Kinda reminds me of how the plot in Sket Dance is carried out but Sket Dance is more silly and it's intended to be pretty random).

Last Thing:

If you're looking for some plot heavy or complex manga I recommend Basara, Seven Seeds, Doubutsu no Kuni, Subaru, Please Save My Earth, Tokyo Crazy Paradise, and Immortal Rain.

To Keep in Mind

There are a lot of negative reviews for this manga, which surprised me considering the volume of sun-tan-trash type shoujo that escape with maybe one or two negative comments. It seems that people seeing the mystery and romance genres expect something far more focused on that angle of the story. As with anything, it's best to read it for what it is. In actuality, this manga is more of a comedic and light-hearted story with fan-service peppered in there for good measure. Aside from the humour, which is great, this manga has good art and a wonderful sense of ambiance between the main characters (it's unusual to have that kind of dynamic done well). The fan service is also balanced between the leads and far from inappropriate. If you are specifically looking for a heavier (or more serious) work or a work that is primarily about mystery and romance, then this is not for you (maybe you should try something like Shinrei Tantei Yakumo). On the other hand, if your looking for some fun light-reading, this could be what you're looking for.

Not exactly a solid plot, but wonderful execution!

This has a ticklish romantic feel to it and makes a good read for any one who wants to pass time with a good romance manga. But if you are here for the mystery element, try something else.

I rated this 10, not because of the great story line or character development, but because this manga has amazing 'romantic tender moments' which make me comeback for more. very few mangaka can accomplish such ambience in a manga, for that alone, I'll rate it 10.
