I really wanted to like this because it seemed promising and I liked some of this author's past works. However, it was sorely disappointing due to the annoying characters and unrealistic plot. The story tries to come across as edgy and tragic but is an utter mess. What ties the main romance together is incomprehensible but you just wind up accepting it -- which could have been okay (i.e. you could have suspended disbelief) if not for the frustratingly terrible decision-making and communication skills exhibited by the main characters.
The fatal flaw of this story lies not in its premise but its execution.

I'm not an art appraiser. I go for the plot and characters. The characters and their relationship dynamics are kind of refreshing in that it is not the typical uke and seme relationship. There's some zigzags between realistic and far-fetched. The morality scale on this work is as gray as it can get. Comedy does exist for this and it does well to balance out the angst.

The stories is OK but I don't like one thing that is that the main characters are not hesitant to have sex with others even though they are in love. It seems that it doesn't matter if they betray their lovers. It left a bad taste in my mouth
I liked it!

So, I'm sort of on the edge about this one...
The story is okay, there's more plot than a lot of yaoi have but it's not something epic either.
The characters were likable but they often act incredibly cheesy! The art is outdated but not bad.
I also don't like the 80s pimp clothing style but that cannot be helped given the release era of this manga!
That said, I really enjoy this mangaka's works in general! They are sort of realistic, pretty harsh, "ugly truth" kinda settings with a ton of sex, cheating, rape, abuse and all that, while it comes across REALLY well that there's romance underneath!
I love the way you gradually see the characters become attached, and let's face it, for a lot of people sex is just sex, there doesn't need to be love and it it's easily forgiven if it happens with someone other than the steady partner, too.
I liked both Jou and Otoji. Jou just is a character like that, someone who sleeps around and puts no value in his body, aside from his prostitution of course. Even though he's such a messed up boy who, in his young years, already went through so much pain that he is scarred for life, he is a happy-go-lucky guy who still cares for people, wanting to protect them. Especially when he starts liking Otoji you see how he is conflict with himself over his past, his life and the danger he brings him into, and his love and wanting to be with Otoji!
What I liked most about Otoji was that I really felt he grew up through the manga. He starts out as a boy but - in character and art style - he grows up to be a bad boy like Jou, ready to give up everything for his love! I also liked that part about his brother... I'm usually not sure about incest but I actually really liked that part in the story here.
It's the typical way of the mangaka to have very frequent sex scenes, and they are sometimes over the top and cheesy but they're almost always well done, especially when you notice how love builds up and then the sex gets more meaning as well!
While this is no masterpiece, it's certainly worth the read, especially for people who want a bit harsher stories, yakuza, abuse, that sort of things... and a ton of sex!
If you do mind a lot cheating, rape and violence then you might not like this.

Actually, I have the similar feeling about this manga as lifeincircuit. But I lasted a little longer (till the 4th volume). Somehow I think that it resembles "Banana Fish" (which I couldn't get through as well ^_^"). I learnt almost nothing from it, and it wasn't erotic enough for me to compensate for that..
To be fair, this manga was written and drawn pretty well, it just seems not to be my type.

I tried really hard to get through this because it is rated so well, but I could only get through three or four chapters. I found it cheesy. Really cheesy. I didn't find the characters particularly likable either. Not only is the art outdated(which i can deal with for an amazing story), but it felt like the character types were as well. The whole playing the saxaphone in the window thing gave me horrible clinton flashbacks. I'm sure it's well written and whatever, but it just really was not for me.
I have to give it a ten!

Ok, I love this because it's truly about two people who fall in love and live their life with each other.... but with lots of drama. The two main characters are totally compatible, as usual for Sensei. She makes the best characters and she makes them in way that they were born to be with each other. This manga also does not have a uke and seme role, which works out great

This manga was excellent. It's been a few months since I last read it but its completely memorable. Its exciting, interesting, sexy and psychological. It has action, romance, thrills, tragedy, mystery and adventure. Its a perfect blend of multiple genre's and character archetypes mixed together into a beautiful collage. I was completely addicting when reading this. My only complain is the art style at times can be a little bleh xD but this manga is over 15 years old so i can forgive that.
really nice!! ^^

love the story plots in this story for they're twisted and different; especially about Otoji's brother.... i love the characters and the sex scenes just like all of the other works by this mangaka!!!
***in all her works there are SCENES THAT ARE 18+!!!!! such as sex scenes, rape scenes, etc.... so this is a WARNING to you if you're not into to them or if you find it uncomfortable. just ignore it and enjoy the story!!! YOU'D LOVE IT!!! <333
