When I first started this manga I rolled my eyes. So much of this was cliche but it did have good character development and the art grew on me. I try to give most anime/manga a try so I was pleasantly surprised when I found it really starting to make me want to read more.

Well, I personally didn't like this manga because it's your usual typical manga. It's so predictable, the drawings were great indeed. (Kudos to Ikeyamada). The one where the girl will always chose the person you'd least likely think she'd end up with, and that would be, the abusive-pervert one.

Retconned a good setup

Yet again Ikeyamada Go throws away a great setup to her series... this time instead of forgetting about it she decides to retcon it away, leaving just a barebones, cliche love triangle shoujo.

The setup she gave the first few chapters was sooo good- typical shoujo protagonist girl falls for typical shoujo 'prince' boy, they go out on dates, and it's great. But when she sees him again, he acts cruel, perverted and sadistic. The explanation is that

he has a split personality- how do you navigate dating someone that could switch at any moment?
Not only does it subvert the genre/the reader's expectations, it's such an intriguing setup and leaves so many different scenarios to explore.

Buuuuutttttt wait. Just kidding! The perfect prince doesn't

have two different personalities after all- he just has one: boring, shoujo prince. It turns out that the split personality is his identical half-brother . (This isn't even remotely possible in real life, even genetically identical twins have differences in appearance, so I'm supposed to believe that siblings that only share 50% of genetic material look the exact same?). So the story went from the complexity of dating someone with two opposing personalities, to "which brother should I date, the nice brother, or the mean brother?"
.

If you decide to read, prepare to be disappointed. Even if you like cliche shoujo, there are far better series to explore.

One of my favorites!

I love this one! I don't even know how many times I've re-read it. It is definitely one of my top favorites. Arata is just so sweet, cute, and hot ^____^ I like Takara as well but not as much as I do Arata. I kind of wish there was a sequal...This mangaka is definitely one of my favs. Sometimes you just need the sweet cheesy romance to make your day just little better smile

Let me tell you guys that I read this manga like a year ago. I actually got up to around V3? & I believe I just dropped it prob b.c I couldn't stand the heroine (can't get pass that her hair is pink :l unless she dyed it every month). I saw I used to rate this a 1. LOL I think some parts were a bit boring.. like the Hikaru x Takara moment. So I got bored and just skipped to the end. BIG MISTAKE.

Gave this manga another try b/c I really enjoyed author manga, Uwasa no Midori-kun!!

The best part of this manga was def when the accident happened. I actually teared up.. Now giving this a 10! Such a great manga to read! I read way too many shojos and this def one of the good ones out there.

Moe Kare!!
Hearing the name of this manga will always make me remember the stress it made me go through.
After reading this manga a while back, there were a lot of moments in it where i felt like throwing
my laptop out the window and blowing it up -_-

It's just your typical shoujo manga about a girl wanting to find true love, which contained plenty of drama and romance to make the storyline interesting. The art was pretty good and i really liked it, so that's two good points i liked about Moe Kare!!
The only thing i disliked about this manga was the main girl, Hikaru.
I really did NOT like her character at all. Where do i start? Her personality and the choices she made annoyed the hell out of me and the fact that she couldn't make up her god damn mind about the twins, just made me want to drop it.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
One moment she's dating one twin, then the next shes cheating on him, then they break up, get back together, MORE cheating, love triangle complications.

Okay, enough with complaining.

I do recommend Moe Kare!! to people who enjoy love triangles and complicated love, but honestly i can't handle these situations.
I don't regret reading it since it was pretty good,
i'm not gonna lie.

Moe Kare is just so great. I mean though it's the typical cliche plot like how the innocent naive girl will be torn between choosing the Good guy and the Bad Guy. Uggh. I have read like countless of mangas like that. But this manga is just so different. Read it guys! It just Amazing! >.<

Art is cute. Modernly drawn, a lot of chibis smile
Characters are way too good to be true but as manga characters they fit so well.

Moe kare is a mixture of funny gag, 1 liter of tears scene, karate moves, pervy stuff and overloaded moe! Just try it guys. It's just Amazing!

10+. I'm on Arata's side. lol

As a lover of shoujo manga, I absolutely, positively, adored this piece by Ikeyamada Go in particular. Sure, her works tend to be rather cliche and a bit repetitive sometimes, but for me, she definitely made Moe Kare work.

Hikaru is one of those somewhat air-heady and annoying heroines I usually hate, but in all honesty, I found her to be rather charming and adorable. Others may be put off by her, but I sure wasn't.

Her love interest then appears, but to add a ridiculously cliche twist to the plot so does his

look-alike (twin) brother!
<---(not sure if this is a spoiler but I'll add it anyway)

And yet, despite this, I continued reading.

I was so glad I did when I finally finished the series. The events throughout the series are hilarious, steamy, as well as romantic. I couldn't stop squealing over the moments she had with her love interest(s). I laughed, blushed, and cried along with Hikaru and the things that were happening around and to her.

A great read for any shoujo fan who isn't too picky and overly-critical of the things they read.

So moe I could die

One of the better standard-clichéd school shoujo mangas out there.

The first volumes it was pretty much like most shoujo mangas with the difference that it had quite a fast and smooth development in the relationship of the two main characters. Also the characters were quite open with their emotions to each other. Which I for once found very refreshing.
Some cliches got spared (like the jealous females mobbing the main char, main char was not in the victim role etc.) but most were present.
After half way through the story it even manages to come up with some serious drama and afterwards I wasn't even sure anymore how it'd develop and end. There were 3 possible ways in my head and it took till the last volume until I could predict it again. Was my preferred outcome from my 3 choices.
I think the last 2-3 volumes actually make this manga worth reading.

The art is very moe - totally silly at times, but oh well... I though of it as kind of cute (so I fell for the moe scheme) and it often added to my entertainment (esp. the chibby moments of Arata). I rarely read mangas with such art anyway. Was interesting.

Can recommend it to shoujo fans, it's very shoujotastic, unless you totally can't stand moe (check wiki or similar if you don't know what moe is) and silly art. But that again has to do with taste and not with quality.

If you liked its setting you may try Parfait Tic!. (Not a recommendation from me, just a similar setting)
