Nagakawa Shinichi and Sanada Yuuki both get involved in an accident and die together, but they are given a chance to live again. A voice lets them survive for seven more days. However, after the time limit, one of the two must die again.
Also, their lives will be shared, including emotions (guilt) and physical sensations (pain). They are told not to leave the other's side, else both of them will die. captivating story

another captivating romance-type of manga. the story itself will move you to tears. as you would expect from Seo, each scenes will enlighten you to appreciate the real beauty of true love. Love in the very essence, is sacred. and the story shows how a person will go all the way for the sake of ones love. It will be interesting if the manga will be adopted into a series. It may surpassed the stories Seo have created so far.

The oneshot had a better ending than the remake.

Now that the manga has ended, I can make a review:

The original oneshot was a compact and simple story of two people falling in love, even though one is fated to die. The major difference in story between the oneshot and the remake is the ending.
In the original
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
the girl chooses to die to keep the one she loved alive, and in reality she had a terminal illness
In the remake
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
the boy ends up dying, she doesn't have a terminal ilness and his memory lives on in their child.

To be frank, the remake didn't add substantial development or plot that the oneshot didn't have. Sure it added more character development, but every page in the oneshot had served a purpose, and was paced perfectly, whereas the remake did falter in the development of the main characters, while sometimes getting distracted by the introduction of side characters.

Overall, a great read. A wonderful story of why some people choose to die for the ones they love, it helps you understand the motivation behind love, and the unreserved compassion that man can feel for those he loves.

That said, the story didn't gain much from being remade, the oneshot imho is the superior work. But well done nonetheless, Seo Kouji.

One-Shot

The one-shot was great. To be honest I find most romances that aren't tragedies boring >.> And though it was kinda predictable, it was still emotional and done well.

the series doesn't seem to be off to a great start. In fact I was thinking that this was better off as a one-shot but seeing as there's a 7-day time limit I suppose it won't go full retard due to running too long for its premise.
As of ch1, it's already fallen to using nudity/ecchi. :/
EDIT: Right, ch3, it's pretty predictable and shithouse. stick to the one-shot then move on.

Mixed feelings after reading this. Although I tried to stay away because I dislike tragedies, I went onto a manga site and clicked the RANDOM MANGA button. It gave me this.
I read it. Interesting plot. Average read, not bad.

It isn't so tragic

I don't think it was a tragedy, since they got to meet each other.
Though one of them did die, they had enough love to last forever. Just as she said, that was God's gift to them before one of them died.

A good bittersweet ending

I'm usually not a fan of bittersweet endings, but it worked on this.

Mainly because
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
you knew one would die at the end unless the author decided to throw a curveball.

They fell in love and he decides to let her live. She has a child and the Shinichi lives on through the child.

"They are told not to leave the other's side, else both of them will die."

why not do this near the end when they tried to kill themselves? is parting in some minutes are that hurting? yeah.. maybe..

Good oneshot though, aside from that plothole, the romance is good and the the tragedy is overwhelming....

A Good Short Story

I really liked this. The story is short and simple, but has an interesting twist at the end. The artwork is good, the characters are likeable, and it even made me stop for a minute to think about how much companionship and love really means in our lives. I wouldn't call Half & Half "brilliant", but I would recommend it as a great read to anyone looking for a short story.
