I tried to read this manga until chapter 17 but I dropped it because I hate the main character's personality. She's a weak character who always cry and she rely on the main guy to rescue her.

I wasn't a super huge fan of this manga at first but it's progressing much better. Misao is becoming a lot stronger and is not as much the "weak girl" figure she used to be, which makes me happy. She reminds me a bit of Xander in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. While she's never going to be as strong as the other protagonists she's beginning to figure herself out a bit more and figure out the areas where she can be useful to herself and the others around her. The story is also becoming a lot stronger. Not perfect but a good manga once you get into it.

I'm not yet finished reading (about halfway) but I can already say what the manga is like.
The idea itself is nice, but cliche. Girl wants boyfriend, old love shows up and claims her to be hers, they become a couple. Eh, quite boring... However, he's a youkai. All the youkai look really cool, have some interesting backstory and that's the main reason why I continue reading.
After reading the first few chapters I was like "Huh? They love each other? They want to marry? What the f*** ist supposed to happen during the next 70 chapters?!" Well, I'm still wondering about that. Somehow the mangaka was able to drag this story on and on and somehow there come new problems which wouldn't be problems if the characters would just open their mouth once and don't try to solve everything by killing (which is a main trait of youkai according to this manga).
The most ridiculous thing is probably this: Suddenly the main girl's love (Kyou) becomes her math teacher. Why? Well, there's no logic behind that at all! Probably the mangaka wanted to write some scenes at school and didn't know how else to place Kyou there. They don't care at all about their relationship being a student-teacher one. It doesn't even strike their mind that the main girl's parents could find out that her boyfriend and neighbor is also her teacher. I mean, that should be hard to hide, right? Nope, not in this manga.
I was also wondering what this girl did before she reunited with Kyou. She has no personality at all. Her only reason for living is Kyou. She doesn't have hobbies, she doesn't have any likes or dislikes. All she does is love Kyou and cry in every single chapter. Oh, and be chased by evil demons who want to eat her.
Compared to that Kyou is the cool, adult-like, super-handsome boyfriend who is quite perverted and will do anything for his beloved princess (especially kill people who get near her).
All in all, you should only read this manga if you're looking for a manga which 1. you can stop reading in the middle of a chapter and 2. features youkai.
EDIT: I'm finished now and I will not change my mind regarding who should read this only. However, the story became slightly more interesting towards the end. Not the end, not the middle, but that thingy in-between. Especially the side characters showed themselves much and as I expected they're really good. Until the end I don't understand Shou though, seems like he has two personalities...

I really did not care for this manga just because I didn't like the female, or male leads. This story line itself was a bit generic. It was not something that I really enjoyed but others might like it.
HOWEVER...
I don't see why so many people are acting as if this manga is the devil itself. Honestly I didn't think this was very over the top smutty (just my opinion). I see a lot of people complaining that this is 'sexist' and promoting 'abuse'. I'm not quite sure where people get this from. People act as if this is the worst manga ever. I've read many manga that were similar to this and did not get anywhere near the amount of hate that this one has received.
In the end everyone will have their own opinion of this manga. Don't let it put you off of reading it, and please, for the love of god...don't go and read the first chapter and then automatically assume this manga is the worst ever and give it a bad rating. It annoys me to no end when people do that.

I really like this series, but I completely understand why so many people do NOT.
Main female character is constantly crying and trying to "not cause problems", but usually ends up doing just that. Main male character is often rude (bordering on mean) and sometimes lacks the ability to say what he's really feeling. However, I have come to expect this from Manga. Japanese culture usually favors non-emotional men and women who "magically" understand how they feel by a look or a stance. Get used to it. Just chalk it up to a cultural difference. I'll never be that girl, but I don't mind reading about them too much. She's still not quite as whiny as Bella from Twilight (LOL)!
Overall, this is NOT a story I would recommend for younger teens or girls with lower self-esteem. Too much emphasis is giving on her virginity. As in many Japanese stories, pushy men seem to get the better of a "weak female" in the end and make her "be with them". Not realistic, but again a cultural thing. Get over personal differences about female-male politics, and its a story about two childhood sweethearts - very nice idea.

Okay, rape is defined as being forced to have sex against your will and without your consent. Therefore, if Misao, however stupidly, offered to have sex with Kyou then it is not rape. Secondly, characters - and that includes women - have done much, much worse things in (shoujo) manga than have sex with someone they love to save said person from death. I'm not advocating it, I'm just saying that there are worse things shoujo heroines have done in order to "save the person they love"...like having sex with the person they don't love, but that's a different matter.
A lot of people describe Misao as weak and relying on Kyou. This is true; but how else is a perfectly normal girl supposed to survive demon attacks etc. if she has no powers? Isn't it kind of impossible for her to do anything but rely on Kyou and his bodyguard people in order to survive?
The plot is okay - it's there, there is an end point which the mangaka is getting to in a roundabout convoluted, way (nevertheless, though, she's getting there). I, for one, am quite curious about the prophecy and what could be so terrible about it.
In short, I feel like a lot of these negative reviews are a bit harsh. Most shoujo is, unfortunately, like this. The fact that Misao is not a super innocent, super naive heroine, and that she doesn't freak out when her boyfriend kisses her, is kind of a plus.

Its not like i hate it but, i thought that the characters personality was horrible. The girl is stupid, weak and cries all the time. The boy is just handsome, jerk and pervert, his harassment is totally annoying. The plot is interesting, its not new but it could be a good manga. The girl could along with the history learn how to figh the demons, she would become strong. I prefer the type cool for the boy, he would come back to her just to make her his bride and be the most powerful tengu, but slowly he would see that she is not the average girl she got a strong personality and then he fall in love with her and she with him. My history wasnt original either but i would rather read it than the history from this author. Her art is great, and the plot for me is interesting, i like demon x human relationships, but unfortunately she messed up with this one.
(My english is not that great, but i guess this comment is ok to read. )

The beginning was good. It got tolerable as it progressed. I agree with Keneko though. Misao should really stop crying. She should try to find a way how to be strong and be of help to Kyo.
