Nice to have some amatuer Comic artists I suppose. But like OEL Manga this ain't manga. It's a comic. Nothing wrong with comics. I love comics. I suppose it's just my insistent terminology.

It doesn't depend. Manga is the Japanese term for comics... it's not the word for "comic" which would be "コミック", romanized as komikku... but for them manga means comics. If it does not come from Japan, then it's just Japanese styled comics (or whatever the language that it was originally in refers as comics). Referring to Japanese styled English (meaning the language not the country) comics as OEL Manga is really just a gimmick that publishers use to peddle their wares and nothing more.

All I'm saying is that comics != manga or vice versa. "Graphic novels" are a closer relation to manga. To call a manga a comic or vice versa is to disregard its style and methodology (as illustrated in those two links). "weeaboo manga" as someone described it, probably doesn't fall under either category, and is inferior to both. But that's more from a lack of professionalism, consistency, originality, direction and authorial voice.

A graphic novel is still a comic. A manga is still a comic. A comic is not necessarily a manga, and the term graphic novel is more or less just marketing.

I don't think you can really compare OEL manga to Japanese manga overall. There are just too few OEL manga, the Japanese industry is so huge. Also, I think you'd have to compare it to a general rated manga about 7 and the OEL manga I've read are definitely about there. The Dreaming and Dramacon are pretty good, I can think of quite a few manga that they are stronger than in both art and plot.

Just out of curiousity, do you only call tissues "Kleenex" when it's actually the Kleenex brand and call everything else "tissues"? Do you only use the word "fasteners" and refuse to call them "zippers" unless they are on boots and pouches?

Style doesn't matter, there are plenty of comics, manga, BD and etc which borrow styles from different markets. Would you call "100%" or "Snikt" a manga? "Ultra Heaven" or "No. 5" BD? No.

I call the Kleenex brand tissue "tissue" (Can you please hand me a tissue?). And the zipper analogy is basically "Do you only use the word "[comics]" and refuse to call them "[manga]" unless they are [Japanese]?"... I basically call anything the warrants the term as comics... unless i refer to where it came from; e.g. "comic strip" from newspapers and "Japanese Comics" when it's from Japan.

The only person here that called Japanese Styled English Comics "weeaboo manga" is you.

This is the Japanese wiki for comics http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%BC%AB%E7%94%BB and this is the Japanese wiki for manga http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%97%A5%E6%9C%AC% E3%81%AE%E6%BC%AB%E7%94%BB the difference is 漫画 vs 日本の漫画 manga (comics) and Nippon of Manga or Japanese Comics. Also, in the section "各国の漫画 " manga (comics) by country they refer to American comics as both "アメリカン・ コミックス" and "アメリカ合衆 国の漫画" American Comics and America United States of Manga (USA's Manga) respectively... and アメリカ合衆 国の漫画 is not referring to OEL Manga.

By the way, comics are comics wherever they come from... they are just called different things at different places. It's a translation thing. A chair is a chair from Mexico... except la es una silla en México. Y una silla es a chair in any English speaking country. Therefore, comics are 漫画 in 日本 (Manga in Nippon).

Okay, so to clarify, that means you use the term "fasteners" unless you are talking exclusively about boots and pouches. That's perfectly fine, as long as you are consistent in your beliefs (comics, tissue, fasteners) and not making a exception for manga.
