Thanks for the quick replies. What quality settings and what kind of hardware are you using? Did you notice any issues on performance like load times, frame rate drops, crashes etc.?

I've found it bugless. Framerate is perfect. Haven't had any issues (my comp is top of the line, but it's the same situation for my brother who has my four and a half year old computer.)

If you're willing to play on the lowest settings, you could run this game with a cardboard box and a potato.

As far as gameplay goes, it requires you to think more and mix up offensive/defensive abilities. If you're ranged, you HAVE to kite or you will die. Act 1 is really quite easy. Act 2 gets drastically harder (still not going to call it 'hard', but a large part of difficulty is dependent on the gear you happen to find--had a real tough time with my wizard who I found nothing for... and swept through without blinking for my monk that got an early unique weapon). Just began Act 3. This is all on normal mind you. I have high hopes for the other difficulties, as I don't recall ever dying in Diablo 2 before Nightmare Act 4 / Hell difficulties.

My one gripe about the game is the item system. It feels like there are less item properties (without + to skill levels like you'd have in diablo 2) and less fulfillment in finding a really good rare than finding a unique/set item like in Diablo 2. Mind you, from what I've read, item properties diversify and increase as level increases (for instance, I still haven't found an increased cast rate item.) Also, since we're not stuck with our skill investments, it's kind of pointless to have lower level sets since we'd never really accumulate the entire thing (aside from RMAH) before surpassing the level premium. Whereas in Diablo 2 I'd keep a number of good low level sets to pass onto any future characters I made. That's just not necessary in this game.

Still, really hope they increase the number/diversity of uniques/sets. I like that rares are useful now, but there was always something epic about having the really wicked looking piece of armor, especially since rares don't have varying appearances.

Oh, and the mercenary system is kinda meh. In diablo 2 you could pretty much turn them into a full companion. In this game they only have ~5 item slots depending on what you equip. Their damage/defense/utility is just pretty subpar, though there's no xp loss for using them.

I've read on some forum that people play the game just fine without meeting the requirements (as long as they have the 3.0+ version of the pixel/vertex shaders) even when the installer was telling them that their pc wasn't enough.

I don't really know what video settings they have in game though...

So far no bugs in game for me but soooooooo many issues with the downloading/updating/installing of the game... I had to spend something like 10 hours just to get the game running !!! And a lot of players have had issues too, Blizzard kinda screwed up their launch on this one.

Character development- your only develpoment is choosing which chatacter you want to play. Skills and stats are automatically given and you can only choose which skills you will use at the moment. So imo in comparision to diablo 2 its worse

whatconfused

you cant change your str, dex, int ASO?
and
you cant chose what skills you want to get better at or "learn" bash, impale, blood golem ASO?

so in other words
one lvl20 barb is exactly the same as all other lvl20 barbs? with some minor diff based on equipment?

is this true?
sounds like the worst idea blizzard have come up with yet[is wow just as awful?]

Because spending time thinking of what stat to spend your points on was so much more fun?
I'd rather, oh, I don't know...play the game instead of doing that.
You want better stats? Get better items with better stats. That's what Diablo has always been about.

Yes, you can choose what abilities you want to use at any time. No more
Quote
oh shit, I accidentally spent my points on the wrong things LET'S ROLL A NEW CHARACTER AND START ALL OVER AGAIN! YAAAAY~

Furthermore, there are way more skills available than what D2 had to offer.

So no, not all "lvl 20 barbs" will be the same. People will choose their abilities according to their play-style. Most Diablo players won't even play past Normal difficulty so there's no point in arguing about min-maxing, ie. wasting time on spending points on skills and stats.
You know what game had all max level character to be the same? Diablo 2. You can only run with certain builds or you're useless at endgame.

People who complain about the new system really have no idea what Diablo is about, and saying that it lacks customization is such a freakin' joke.

I hope it was a joke
but i had to respond

this is not about minmaxing
by letting ppl mess around with stats and learning diffrent skills makes it more involving
a big motherfuckingawesome bonus extra +plus+ in my book
makes it seem like its your character

and since most ppl only gonna play normal[just as you say] i dont see the point in removing what little involvment you had in making your character special

and i dont think anyone really freaked out over buying some skills that they later had no use for
in d2...if you plan to play a long time with your character it does not really matter if they have some useless skills picked up along the way

spending 15 hours doing the same quest over and over
hoping mephisto drop some good shit this time is not very fun
i did not like it in d2 so i dont see why this would be a better way to get better stats in d3

maybe i dont get diablo lol
that is very possible
but d1,hellfire and d2[expansion was pure garbage] used to be my favorite games[way back then] and i spent countless hours playing those with friends online[along with other blizzard games]
so i think i have the right to make some complaints if i see something i dont like
even if i dont get it

Indeed. Empty vessels do make the most noise, after all.

Few people get Diablo, the developers certainly didn't.

The roots of Diablo is "roguelikes", a sub-genre of RPGs that are pretty much dungeon crawls, unfortunately everything that have success is then copied and badly, this is why after Diablo come out we had a stream of crappy "Action RPGs" that eventually doomed the gender.

Not that it matters, people will buy and play D3 not because its a good game ... its because its "Diablo 3", nothing more.
