Right now I'm listening to Nana Moskouri's rendition of Ave Maria and oh, her voice is heavenly!

Other favorite is Beth Gibbons of Portishead and Lea Salonga(does musicals).

Then there's this woman's voice in Hess is More's "Yes Boss":

so sensual and the lyrics is just so naughty! eyes

Who is this Mike Shinoda person all the kids seem to be talkin about?.... the name sounds like some ninja school reject wannabe.... too lazy to wiki.

The rapper in Linkin Park.

Not a fan, personally. Their songs seem too formulaic to me.

Linken Park??.... Ohh.... they're the ones who got together with that Jay rapper and stole that Nujabes song, right?

Don't watch much eMpTyV... sorry.

Back to topic.... I'd like to add Corinne Bailey Rae.... check out my last post in the "most beautiful song" thread where she performs with Herbie Hancock.

Female: Avril Lavigne(?)
Male:Mike Shinoda

How many female vocalists have you listened to? I'm not arguing that Avril is a bad singer, but man, if you listen to older artists, like the chick from Heart, or Stevie Nix, even, you'll see what I'm talkin bout.

Mike Shinoda's voice fits LP's music very well, though. As far as rapcore goes, though, I have to give that title to Zach De La Rocha.

I NEVER listen to female vocalists, and avril, well I like My happy ending...

I really love Irene Cara's voice, its really powerful. also, Dido has a beautiful voice, and the lead singer from The Cranberries, her voice is really cool.

Marketa Irglova... is really good. No one seems to notice her though.

But there is always Mary Travers, Nancy Sinatra, and of course, Nico.

I'm not a Corinne Bailey Rae fan. I have an album of hers, I think, and was not impressed.

Of contemporary female vocalists, Amy Winehouse has the nicest voice, imo, along with Joss Stone. Susan Tedeschi also has a nice voice.

Well... to each his own, I guess..... doesn't change my opinion of her..... Love Susan Tedeschi (+band) and Joss Stone..... Winehouse blows hot/cold for me, though.

Just my personal opinion, though.... hope u don't mind.

P.S... I remember I had a bootleg of Tedeschi and Taj Mahal (she was opening)... gotta look for it when I go visit my mom.

O'Riordan has a very distinct style/voice and I like it.

I forgot to add Skye Edwards, Amy Winehouse and Norah Jones .
