It's just that I don't like when people say manga has big eyes because of western comics like it's something granted. If you actually see western comics from that time you will note that in the eyes department they have nothing to do with manga.

If you look at it, even the influence can be conciliated with the "big eyes are more expressive"

Maybe he drew a character with big eyes form some reason(Western girl with large eyes?) and noticed that with the big eyes he could make his character change expressions without even having to redraw his face.

Edit: I don't see why you consider the manga current style and don't consider the comics current style.(altough the WAY older bit happened because my father was going to turn of the eletricity, I ddn't want to miss the post so I just let it be. It is not way older, even when you look at manga and comics origins)

Continuation(had to be afk shortly): Take a look at Steamboat Willie and then at The Little Grass Slipper and you will notice that they are not the same art. Steamboat Willie became The Little Grass Slipper after Tezuka-sensei

If you date the 12th (or is it 13th) century drawings then heh, sure.

You may not like how it sounds, but it's still given that he had an influence.

Even with big eyes, manga-ka still redraw faces to show expression. Not all mangaka choose to deliver emotion through eyes.

Why on Earth would I pay attention to current Western styles when that is only borderline related to what we're talking about. (I don't know much about that either.)

Early Western ----> Tezuka Style => Current
|
Modern Western?

- Evolvation
-> Influence
=> Equal/Evolvation

Just because the influence/inspiration came from the same source doesn't automatically mean that the products will be the same or even similar.

Once again, I don't see how te evolvation of comics wpuld affect the evolvation of mana. Influence doesn't have to be eternal. Tezuka-sensei may have been influenced, but later manga-ka don't have to be influenced by later comics in turn.

I feel I Shouldn't make a post just to say this since I said it in the last post in the edit, but since you posted before I edited:
In my opinion Tezuka has influence in the moden western

The "ancient" drawings don't counts since the only thing they share with actual manga is the Irresponsable Drawing

Maybe so, but does that change anything I just said? No.

How on Earth did we get around to arguing history of manga. ; p

If the undisciplined style originated back then and is still used then it would mean they're still the same base form. Same base form means same thing in essence ;d

(I should stop arguing and go back to reading, this is slowing me down ;D)

Now looking at your text I hardly see what it changes in my post too because I agree with your post.

I don't see either how the evolution of comics change the manga. I see that the manga changed the evolution of comics, comics after manga are different, what I consider a new style. They obviosult aren't like the pre-manga comics. The day the first manga influenced comic was released I consider to be the day the nowadays comics were born, making manga older.

Yeah, We pretty much did whatever we wanted with the topic. I should go back to reading too, Immortal Regis looks promising

Let me get this straight, you don't like big boobs? Seriously, who cares if they got gigantic boobs or not. The bigger, the better.

This doesn't make a lick of sense. Seriously. srly. You can trace the evolution of comics and leave manga completely out of it. Comics didn't influence manga except in the general sci-fi, they have awareness of spiderman and superman way.

Early animation influenced manga.

manga didn't influence comics except for the few whose art style was but that was in vogue for a short period and fell from popular use, and comic artist are influenced by a lot including pass comic artist, regular artist ect. The comic book style still tends to go for a more detailed body approach, except for the few that are either cartoony.

Basically the idea that manga changed comics is ridiculous, especially since by the time comics started changing, no one would have had access to them. comics started changing to what they are now by the 60s

On topic now. Manga is exaggerated reality, and shounen especially is done in fun or to do cool things. The breast sizes seem to run the gamut to ridiculous, to more normal big, to normal, to small.

If the idea is that the general breast size should be small, I don't know how I feel about that. basically it never bothers me.

If anything it all ends up being more realistic to the larger world.

>Let's add some more symbolism for tripping balls.
>Jesus Christ, now let's add some kinky stuff to make this unfathomable.
>Let's add some tits and display them in dramatic light.
>Oh yeah, this is so much more seinen than a brick is clay and sand.
>There's like butterflies with tits and fangs.
>What am I reading?

>Besides that one hot woman who is like assaulted or something.
>Lead to the rescue!
>I think this kid needs an eight pack.
>Make it twelve.
>Now some hugeass guy who gets his ass handed to himself by the main guy.
>The bigger and uglier the guy, the weaker he is. First boss battle and such.
>Let's add some chick who is like kinda evil but like super powerful.
>Let's make her wear slutty clothes. So hot.
>Now she must totally be interested in the fighting prowess of the lead.
>Oh I forgot the compulsory childhood friend.
>Add some rack between the childhood and friend.
>Woah this stuff does not make any sense.
>Let's add some tits so people don't have time to think of the flaws.
>Bigger tits means more feints.
>I CANNOT STOP DRAWING THESE.
>Haha anyone above 15 will be so trolled by this.
>Is this hentai? <_<

>This fucking idiot bitch!
>Erm, let's add some hot guys with shampoo ad hair to fix this.
>Let's make more!
>They must totally be interested in her despite her lack of character and appeal.
>This guy needs to be sweet and caring.
>Oh this other guy needs to be a total rapist and she just wants more!
>Well he is hot so who cares if they get raped!
>He must be the headmaster's son and he is like rich.
>This other guy is totally sweeter and better for her, but let's just smutify this.
>Rape rape everywhere.
>Let's not draw too many females. Could need to draw tits.
>Let's add this third guy who is like her step-brother or something.
>He must be a year younger or stuff.

laugh Who said that breasts in anime/manga need to be 'normal' sized? That is the glory of it all, boobs can be what ever size you want them to be!

That's what an artist can do to a character that you can't do to a real person laugh

Good lord, I pity the girls in manga who go "bra-less". I'm sure they cry themselves to sleep at night from the pain... sad
